haha, I can't decide if you are pulling my leg.
paul - 07/23/11 12:02
Ya I totally see it.
tinypliny - 07/22/11 20:48
High tech, High impact, High time to visit? WITH a specs on the banner and the word "site"immediately after the specs diagram? Doesn't that positively yell optometrists?
paul - 07/22/11 20:25
I think everyone from Buffalo does know. WE all learn about it as a kid.
metalpeter - 07/22/11 18:45
When I was Young Kid there they had a camp it was pretty cool... Can't remember much of the stuff other then Mansard roofs are flat and that back then you got taxed by how many floor you had so there was some kind of construction that hid a floor......
tinypliny - 07/22/11 18:21
I thought that was an ad for a optometrist! I seriously did. TR? Does everyone know what TR is?!

Mac OS 10.7
Category: computers
The installation was a breeze. I put $29 into the app store on my computer and my computer updated itself. No disk, no settings, nothing. That part was pretty good. Especially considering (e:matthew) and I were arguing at one point and the computer got shut, went to sleep and woke back up in the middle of the install.

The one thing I really don't like is the scrolling. The way it works now, dragging the trackpad down scrolls up and dragging the trackpad up scroll down, like on an iphone. It seems to break the convention of everything other computer system. Maybe I will get used to it.

I really don't like it as much as gnome 3. For example launchpad sucks compared to the gnome 3's dash.

Overall it really doesn't seem like much is different. I don't expect anyone to have trouble switching between from 10.6 to 10.7.
paul - 07/22/11 14:25
I heard they added support for the freezing of apps instead of quitting. Like the way it works on the iPhone.
enknot - 07/22/11 13:51
Yeah. I was less than impressed by the presentation. I can't say that I'll be bothering updating my os since it really only seems like a marketing add on. Oddly enough no code clean up and reorganization of important anything this time around. Weird Huh? I'm sure there's nice stuff under the hood, but I don't know what. Hmm.. maybe there's 3d support we don't know about yet....no, nope naw that's just silly.

Two quails and a shephards pie
Category: food
(e:tinypliny) and I went Betty's for dinner the other night. We sat outside and were so into our conversation that when we finally looked inside we realized the chairs were up. (e:tinypliny) proceded to steal the linens and we left. Half way down the block she realized she had the napkin in her hand so we went back to return it.

The food was quite delicious. I had two quail and tiny had the veggie shephards pie.

That pie is like a wetter version of the Indian Tikki: :::link:::

It was so tasty!
tinypliny - 07/22/11 13:09
I have a hidden trait of kleptomania. Who knew.

I am going to try making that pie someday. Only, it has a ton of potatoes that I am not very enthusiastic about. Maybe I could substitute all of the potatoes with chickpea flour and tofu.

The maple blight
The maple tree disease is so bad right now. Every tree around is infected. I wonder if they can even collect enough energy for the winter or if we will have streets lined with dead trees in a year or two. Its so bad on streets where they are all maple.

Its scary... I didn't think about trees survive through the winter. I guess I am still unused to the concept of fall. Back home all trees are deciduous. I don't know if people notice these kind of things consciously (well, everyone except you!). Buffalo News ought to run a feature on this - do you know anyone there? Are there letters to the editor columns that you can send these photos to?
paul - 07/22/11 13:23
Its like every maple tree in buffalo.
tinypliny - 07/22/11 13:03
Why don't you phone the city? Do they have a department for green zones? They must... Who takes care of these trees, the municipality?
