At least its not a jackfruit tree
Category: food
This unnamed fruit (e:paul,52770) got me thinking about exotic fruits.

Even though having so many pears is a pain sometimes, it beats having a jackfruit tree in the backyard, although I would like to try jackfruit I don't think I could deal with such giant fruits. Definately sounds dangerous to shake them down.

They remind me of home - in some states, you can practically see one in every home. We didn't have enough space for them though and I think they require more tropical and humid climates than what they can get in Delhi. You need to read this fascinating journal about them :::link::: The writer is spot on with many observations. You could get a serious concussion if one falls on your head or worse get nudged into a coma.

Ktouch
Category: linux
I feel like such a loser that after about 20 years of typing constantly I still never use my pinky fingers. I decided to do something about it and learn to type properly once and for all. I installed ktouch, which is a Linux KDE touch typing tutorial application.

Unfortunately my package manager bundled it with a whole bunch of other children's crap.

On the other hand I have logo again. I always loved that turtle.

Delicious Dinner at Seabar
Category: food
We went out to dinner with (e:Jim) to see him before he takes off for Portland. I am totally jealous. If my family wasn't here I would leave in a heartbeat. I really want to stick it out here but it really seems like every smart person I know leaves.

It doesn't help that I hate my job so thoroughly right now. I am totally bored working with so many people who don't even seem remotely interested in what they do other than that it brings them a paycheck.

I yearn to have a technical conversation with people that can understand and are interested in the details of the technology they are using. I never thought I would say this, but I want the next place I work to also be union free. That and I want to be the boss ;)

What is the first plate? Is that a series of cross-sections from the same fish? Is that served raw or was it cooked in some way?

Beau Soleil oysters with cucumber and jalapeno salsa. One of my favorite things to eat. What is dish number three? (e:jim) are you moving to portland?

Pyroom
Category: linux
Hey (e:tinypliny,52765) I found a Q10 replacement that is available in fedora. Its called pyroom and I have a feeling they had Q10 in mind when designing or that they both have a common parent. Its so funny all of these systems look like the terminal prompt I spend most of the day in. This is native and much better as it does not jerk you out when you save. Sorry no typewriter noise but I bet that could be added if needed.

From the command like type sudo yum install pyroom at the terminal or just open up the package manager and search for pyroom to install. It puts an icon in the office folder under applications. ctrl+p for preference settings.

JDarkRoom didn't hide the panels for me when I tried it, plus it uses Java vs python on pyroom.
tinypliny - 09/18/10 04:13
Nice one! There is also JDarkRoom and FocusWriter. Once you start to look around, there are surprisingly similar alternatives to what I was using.

I am still setting everything up and playing around... This is very exciting for me to be able to switch to something other than Windows once and for all.
