Prom Night In Mississippi
Category: movies
Last Night On HBO I watched Prom Night In Mississippi . I thought it was pretty interesting. Going into it I was thinking about how strange it is that some place Has White Prom and a Black Prom. Then I thought but in some ways it does make sense. What about the white people who don't like R&B and the blacks that don't like Hard Rock. Their are other culture things that might clash also. But then I thought but wait the school is mixed so some friendships will cross racial lines. The Movie does give the history of this town and how the school got integrated and that was interesting. The town is where Morgan Freeman was born, and he had this idea to try and intergrate the prom Years ago but was turned down. This time they excepted. It seemed like most of the kids wanted the prom it was parents who didn't, Hey Morgan paid for it so why not try it. It turns out that some parents still made a white prom but it wasn't school sanctioned and they wouldn't let anyone film there. I found the movie pretty interesting, I still wonder if the Cameras effected what people said. I also watched an interesting follow up that is like 20 minutes from a year after the prom. Race relations sure seem complex down there, ok everywhere really.

Viewing Parties
So Mike came over to watch the UFC pay per view maybe about a week ago. It was a good time. Other then like my landlord I couldn't tell you the last time I had some at my place. The thing is In the past I used to all the time. Some times people from work, not where I currently work. I used to get WWE, WCW, ECW events at one point it might have been like once a month. Some how now I have all this stuff and no place to put it, so that is kinda out of the question. But it would be fun again sometime to get another PPV of some kind and like plan it and have people over, but we shall see.

Last night I was thinking about this again as I was Watching True Blood (again a great show, never read any of the books). There is this scene where they are in a Vampire Hotel and there is what looks like this huge Flat Screen TV. My first thought was wow that would be nice to have. My second thought was hey that would be great to watch this show on with like a group of people. There are people who do this with other shows not sure if that is the same thing as viewings or not. Then that got me to thinking I would love to have a nice sofa, or what ever that thing is called that looks like one but turns and some of them have foot rests.

I do know of a couple who would like to watch True Blood but who don't have HBO and did think of inviting them over but, not in the shape my place is in they might never talk to me again. But who knows maybe it will be nice enough by the time 24 starts up or maybe even by the time the 3rd season of true blood starts. Hey but then again who knows.

Other then for the Superbowl and PPV's I don't think I have ever been to some Else's home for a viewing, well except for one of Drew's movie nights that was a good time.

Sleeping In?
Category: internet
Well as some of you might know, (e:strip) is not my Only "social Networking site". (e:strip) isn't the same as okcupid, fubar, myspace, or facebook or even webshots. Yes all the sites I mentioned to have some aspects that are the same. Webshots added blogs to try and be like the others. Facebook added the drink apps to try and be like Fubar. Myspace added the updates to try and be like facebook. I like all the sites for different reasons and I hope they stay as being different from each other. Facebook is great for a quick online update, that is really what it is made for. One that I have used there a few times is:
"looking Forward to sleeping in" . Hey during the week with a day off that is a big deal.

But here is the thing. A lot of those statements don't really mean much other then to the person who posts it. Like what does sleeping in really mean. In my case maybe 3 hours more at the most. It implies like noonish. It implies under the covers out cold warm and toasty. But that isn't the case. What it means for me is that I wake up when my body is ready to instead of the alarm going off. It isn't that I'm in this huge bed and am as snug as a bug in a rug.

This is an example of how so much in life is relative. For example my wake up time is about 4:30 AM or sometimes about 5:30 am. So waking up at 8 is awesome. But for the 9-5 crowd 8am is when they wake up to go to work so to them that isn't sleeping in at all. But then sometimes I'm downtown (on a work day) and I see a truck backing into Rite Aid. So I wonder is who ever unloads that still there from like late last night or do they get up even earlier then I do. Then What about the truck driver. Has he been driving all Night? Is he local? Did he drive to Buffalo? If he is local what time did he get up?

Well I guess I just want to remind people that many things in life are relative. Hopefully I can sleep in a bit and hopefully it doesn't rain so I can enjoy the Italian Festival and maybe I'll go see up. In any event hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Wish I slept in more today maybe on Sunday we shall see.
tinypliny - 07/17/09 22:07
I love this post of yours. :)

Yes, it's all relative and in a world of similarity sometimes its nice to be an individual and not fit in.

Up and Religon
So Today I finally saw the movie UP. Before the movie there was a cartoon that I liked. It is tough to talk about UP with out giving anything away. Maybe it is just me but it didn't seem like a kids movie to me. See there is the adventure part but it seems like there is a lot of sadness in the movie. Maybe though it is made in a way that kids wouldn't pick up on it not sure really.

So after Up it was to the Italian Festival. I didn't eat a lot I had a Blueberry Italian Ice and then from some place RJ's I think I got loaded fries wow they where huge and tasty and they had all kinds of deep Fried stuff, I went with the Reese's they where very tasty. I also got to see the parade, I thought a few fools might get run over hello why are you walking towards a horse coming your way? I also caught the end of Italian Idol, finals are on Sunday.

Yes there where people giving out religious pamphlets and as I was leaving some had some big sign, and then they come over to the bus stop and try to give us something, the one guy was pissed and told the lady to go to hell, she just kept preaching at him.

That is what brings me to my point. From my point of view a lot of these people are crazies. But see from there point of view any one who doesn't have the same faith as them are going to burn in hell. They also seem to believe that we all have to be saved. What about the fact that we might believe but that we don't want your book, or if we do that we don't want it here, we came it enjoy a festival?

I don't think the message that these people or the ones at the square give is crazy at all. It is the way it is presented. For example I think the people at the square think that getting drunk is bad. You know they do have a point. If you are getting drunk as a way to escape your problems instead of as a way to have fun, then yeah maybe you should turn to god to help you instead of alcohol. But see they assume that if you drink you are turning your back on god. Yes some are but not everyone so what they do is make no one listen to there message.

I'm sure some people go to the square to meet someone to have sex with or go with someone who they will have sex with later. Well that is a sin, anyone who knows what sin is knows that. But that doesn't mean it is going to happen and it also doesn't mean that you can't repent later if you give into temptation. But some people might even believe and not believe in sin. But again here by yelling and Judging people then those people you are trying to help won't here what you are saying.

What I suggest is that these people take a step back and get rid of the signs. Maybe put up things that say things like sex outside of marriage is a sin. Instead of preaching at people walk up and say can we talk about god. Talk to people see where they are, love them as your brother don't judge them. Let them know that you care about there soul but if they don't want to talk ask if they will take a card and invite them to your church. If what you really want is to help someone Judging them and Yelling only hurts your cause.

Well enough of that hope everyone enjoys the rest of there weekend and finds fun stuff to do, even if that just means relaxing and not really doing anything.

10,000th Image Kinda
Category: photos
Well Before I did the last Post It listed me as 23 Images away from 10,000 so I was going to make my first picture be the 10,000 but now it lists me as over it and I only did 22 pictures so not sure where I am at really. On my webshots page I have a lot more picture like 18 or 16,000 I forget. But (e:strip) is different in that it isn't a photo sharing site and also some images aren't pictures I took that are posted. Lets face it at some point I would have meet some (e:peep) out in person and that would have got me to go to a party. I'm guessing before then I was posting pictures, but lets face it with out looking at the stats I know (e:strip) events make up a good portion of the pictures I post here so for that here is the Kinda 10,000 Picture. Also thanks (e:ladycroft).

I tossed a couple pictures of the waterfront and the Aud in as well. It was cool to see a weeding party there. You could see they where taking pictures, again I assume this was after the weeding as opposed to before the weeding.

It was amazing how different the crowds where from day 1 with the rain and day 2. I'm sure after I left it even got more packed once it was nice on Saturday.

"A picture is worth a thousand words!" I would say you are well past 10,000 pics! I love looking at them all. And as always thanks for sharing. How was the food? What did you eat at the Taste of Buffalo?
