Our Toyota Prius [search]Prius[/search]
(WIKIPEDIA - Prius) has been at Fuccillo Toyota
(GOOGLE - Fuccillo Toyota) since Tuesday. It needs almost 2000 dollars worth of work - the catalytic converter
(WIKIPEDIA - catalytic converter) is failing and that is why it failed the NYS inspection and why the check engine mysteriously came on and off in a seemingly random way.
Vector this!
I tried the second release candidate of vlsoho-5.1
(GOOGLE - Vector Linux). A big thumbs down. I couldn't get my wireless card to work. Vector Linux is Slackware-based
(GOOGLE - Slackware) so I thought that if I could get it to work in Slackware I could get it to work in Vector. Wrong!!!
The Blank Generation
Richard Hell
(WIKIPEDIA - Richard Hell) and the Voidiods's "Blank Generation" was and is one of my favie albums of all time. Robert Quine
(WIKIPEDIA - Robert Quine) is one of my all-time guitar heroes.
There were times when I thought that this song was the story of my life:
I was sayin let me out of here before I was
even born--it's such a gamble when you get a face
It's fascinatin to observe what the mirror does
but when I dine it's for the wall that I set a place
I belong to the blank generation and
I can take it or leave it each time
I belong to the ______ generation but
I can take it or leave it each time
Triangles were fallin at the window as the doctor cursed
He was a cartoon long forsaken by the public eye
The nurse adjusted her garters as I breathed my first
The doctor grabbed my throat and yelled, "God's consolation prize!"
Happy Birthday
Oh, yeah. Today (Jan 5) is Marilyn Manson's
(WIKIPEDIA - Marilyn Manson) birthday. Happy Birthday you beautiful person you, you beautiful person you!
(e:hodown) - I think you are very right about that. In the 1980s when I lived in NYC, a gay rights/ artist that I knew pessimistically told me that the only way NYC would have gay rights was if it wasn't in New York State. He said that the "upstate" was too conservative and homphobic and hated NYC. After living in Western New York, I finally understand what David meant. The rural areas around here have more in common with Tennessee than they do with New York City.
It amazes me as well. I think a large part of it is that NYS has a lot of smaller more conservative towns.
I hope it passes, but to be honest I don't think it is going to. I don't remember when it was first tried but it failed then and I think it will again. Granted I hope I'm wrong. I think there is still a lot of opposition to making it legal here. But time shall tell.
