Weekend
This nice weather has finally drawn me out of my house!

Friday night, myself and the Mr. walked down to visit with our neighbors and have a couple drinks and just socialize a bit.

Saturday afternoon I walked over to the newly opened visitors center at the Darwin Martin House. It's a nice space.

Saturday night I met up with some friends and we went to Buffalo Gay Bingo. As usual I did not win but I had a lot of fun.

While standing in line to get in, the oddest woman decides to talk to us. She tells us all about how her son has the super hot new bf and she wants him to send her pics of the hot new bf and that her granddaughter doesn't like to wear underpants because she gets wedgies since she doesn't have a booty.

whoa TMI lady! Yes, all of that information came out in one long sentence.

Guessing my freak magnet is super strong for 2009.

Sunday night I made homemade poptarts. This really comes down to me taking Wegmans pie crusts and rolling them out a bit and then cutting rectangular pieces and filling those pieces with frozen blueberries mixed with sugar.

Next time, I am going to use some of my homemade jam as the blueberries were big and kinda lumpy and at least one pie suffered a a bit of a filling explosion.

My second batch came out better than the first and would fit in a toaster. I used less filling so things did not explode.

(e:)(tinypliny) LOL

No wonder I am SO attracted to you! ;-)

"Filling explosion".
I need to try this! I agree with (e:heidi). What a nifty idea!

heidi - 03/16/09 19:44
What a neat idea! I'm guessing they don't fit in the toaster?

A bit of Spring
Category: gardening
I have it!

I'm sorry to say I cannot share it yet since it is in the form of a couple sprouted seeds that are carefully being tended to in our spare bedroom aka the plant nursery.

Much to my surprise when I checked on my "babies" last night, a few of my Cosmos seeds had sprouted already.
james - 03/11/09 14:21
Only 12 more days until spring!

Seeds
Category: gardening
The nicer weather prompted me to go to Urban Roots to buy my seed starting supplies.

I planted a few flowers and veggies and have everything setup in our spare bedroom. It's the warmest room in our house and once the weather is a little better I can move the seedlings (I hope they sprout) out to our covered front porch which is like a greenhouse.

(e:tinypliny) I downloaded an app for my iPod touch that helps me keep track if my shopping lists and costs. It's not exactly what I want but it's a start and better than manually entering everything in to Excel.
tinypliny - 03/15/09 19:17
OKG - I need to see this ipod coolness!!!! When am I running into you next??? Can you scan stuff? This may be the thing that finally makes me get an ipod.

BTW, I am so annoyed that the wegmans site keeps saying that you can see your past purchase record "soon", but its been 3 full years since that notice went up. How soon is "soon" in the Wegman dictionary??
pmrk - 03/11/09 14:08
I'm trying sunflowers again this year. A few years ago I swore I wasn't going to plant them again after the squirrels decimated them as soon as they bloomed.

I saw this beautiful red variety when I was at Urban Roots so I grabbed a pack of seeds.
dcoffee - 03/10/09 20:57
I can't wait to get the garden going too! I'll be growing veggies and sunflowers in the front yard. I hope we get spring soon.

First signs of spring
I saw the first small signs of my spring flowers in my gardens today.

How I cannot wait for spring.
tinypliny - 02/18/09 08:44
And it has started snowing again. :/

The groundhog outcome is predetermined
weeks in advance too. So much for even having false hope of an early spring, it's already decided well in advance of the groundhog coming out of his burrow.

blah.so sick of winter!!
tinypliny - 02/04/09 19:09
Actually I like that movie. So inspiring and sweet. :)
metalpeter - 02/04/09 19:03
I think the idea is kinda silly. The reason being is that how do know if the ground hog see's his shadow. You can see how he or she reacts but that doesn't mean for sure that they have seen the shadow. What about the fact that the Rochester and the PA one came up with different results?
tinypliny - 02/04/09 18:57
The groundhog is probably bosom-buddies with the great santa and the easter bunny. Down with nepotism.
drew - 02/04/09 12:18
and that movie about groundhog day was written WAY before they filmed it. The whole thing was so . . . scripted.
