Fred Phelps - God Hates Fags
Category: gay
So I decided to go on sunday and be one of the "angels" that holds up these giant angels to block to the victims families of flight 3407 from Fred Phelps and his crazies after reading (e:kathryn,47806)'s journal.

This is really a lot for me because I don't even believ in the symbol of angel but the idea is nice and I hope it shelters people from it. I am most interested in seeing how it pans out?

(e:mike), (e:matthew), (e:terry), (e:hodown), (e:libertad) and I are going? Is anyone else in. As (e:libertad) posted it is liek $12 for the materials for the angels.

I am reposting his comment here for more people to see in case they are interested:

The below message (e:libertad) received from Kitty Lambert:

We need, in every community, a few angelic troublemakers - Bayard Rustin

We desparately need your help.

When Matthew Shepard was murdered Fred "Dispicable" Phelps showed up and stood across the street from the funeral with signs stating "God Hates Fags" and "Matt Got What He Deserved" and "Matt Is Burning In Hell Right Now". I hope this turns your stomach. It still does mine. Matts family was sheilded from this by a group of angels.... literally.

This Sunday, this same idiot is coming to Buffalo. He is coming to do the SAME thing at a Memorial Service in Clarence for the passengers of Flight 3407 and then a few hours later at the Memorial Service for Human Rights Activist Alison Des Forges (he is titling this project "God Hates Silly Women).

So this is what I need... 50 angels.

We desparately need your help. We need YOU to volunteer to be one of the angels. The "costumes" will cost $12.00 and must be paid for by each individual angel. You will need to agree to take a "shift" start to finish; either the one in Clarence beginning at 9am, or the one for Alison in Downtown Buffalo at 12:45pm.

If you wish to see what the angels look like go tolink

A member of the gay community was on the flight. I have no doubt that he will focus on that too... his parents don't need to see this ass. Please help us block his view.

This is OUR home, OUR city, and these are OUR families.

Want to be an angel but can't come up with the money? Can not be there but would like to help by funding the cost of an angel costume for a someone? Please call me directly 716-578-3782 and I will get it arranged.

put him in a space ship and blast him to the moon
metalpeter - 02/22/09 13:37
The fact is that him protesting at a Funeral is, well there isn't a word for it really it is pretty bad but that isn't enough to say. However that being said he has every right to do so. Just like the angels have every right to protest back (that isn't what they are really doing), or anyone else could protest his protest. I like the way the Ladies in Black protest and that is how they should all be done. Go find a spot hold you sign and don't say anything. What I want to know is where is the Civility in protests? I think it has been lost some where. All you need is a Big Sign where people will see it going to or away from an event. There is no need to follow The Pride Parade yelling how everyone is going to Burn In Hell. If that is what you think makes signs and Stand where people will pass you going up to the parade or on Elmwood where people will drive on there way to the parade.

I'm sure this guy hopes that everyone at the service dies and maybe that more stuff will happen and they can bash gays and supporters of gays and people who don't bash gays. I don't agree with him but he has a right to say what he thinks and I have a right to disagree. In this country there is this trend that I have seen that is really scary. If someone believes what you do then it is ok to state it, but when they don't they are all of a sudden a crazy person that has no writes and deserves to die. (yes I know people who if you are gay they don't want to know and don't care and think you should say nothing) {none of them would think what this guy is doing is ok, and I don't either) But there moral ideas are = to everyone else's idea.
johnallen - 02/22/09 13:12
Save it! This SOB will protest a funeral for a soldier that just defended his right to protest in the first place.

I'm not a violent person, never have been, nor do I want this jerkoff to die violently, I just want him dead.

You don't protest funerals/memmorial services. The complete lack of respect is disgracefull.

I hope when he goes there will be a big huge gay orgy on his gravesite... I'll pay for everyone's airfare.
metalpeter - 02/22/09 10:28
(e:johnallen) I get what you are feeling and I get that. I know it is tough not to judge people like that, that seem crazy. But see once you start to Judge him then you are the same as him, I know I have judged him so I'm no better. I mean only in thoughts not in actions. That being said there is a big difference between thinking something and doing it or trying to do them harm. I think he is crazy and makes a lot of people who aren't like him seem crazy also. But to wish him and then to try and make it happen would be just as bad as what he is saying. He has the same rights to think what he does as everyone else. He has the same rights to protest as the Angels do to counter protest. When people forgot is when extremism takes over and lots of people get hurt and killed or in other parts of the world blown up or churches get burnt to the ground.
johnallen - 02/21/09 20:03
I'm glad you're going. I wish that son of a bitch would die.
metalpeter - 02/20/09 18:54
I will admit that I would like to go. The problem is that One I have no way of getting there. But the bigger problem is that there are two sides to me. The one side is very calm and the other side is the very quick to getting very upset and I think that side might show up.
janelle - 02/20/09 17:37
I sent a quick e-mail to ABC, CBS, NBC and encouraged them to not put Fred Phelps in the spotlight. The consense, after doing a lot of reading, seems to be that he needs his media attention cut off. I wonder if the stations will respond to my comments?
janelle - 02/20/09 16:49
I might go. But I don't want to go as an angel.

Like trash from heaven
Category: church of the ascension
One of the tenants at the Church of The Ascension on Linwood next door can't seen to get when garbage day is. There is always so much random trash that ends up on our lawn. For some reason this week, they put this couch out the day after garbage pickup and now the couch cushion ended up on our lawn.

It will probably end up sitting out there for a week looking trashy and they won't get a fine because it's a church. I think they should have to adhere to the same rules as everyone else.

matthew - 02/24/09 10:41
also, they never recycle anything ever. It all goes in the trash.
paul - 02/21/09 18:50
Today the cushion actually showed up at our neighbors side door.
gardenmama - 02/20/09 19:33
Wonderful! - So it of course gave off that pwt, cushioned indoor furniture on the front porch look. That so sucks. I really don't think they're allowed to break the garbage rules. Maybe they have a staffing problem and didn't have anyone available to put the couch out at any other time. They could at least have tied the loose cushion to the couch if they were going to put it out though. I hate when people do that. Of course there is the other problem sometimes when people put big garbage item out at the right time but the garbage men don't take it for a week or two.
paul - 02/20/09 19:24
It was so embarassing because my friend's mom was visiting our house for the first time and at that point the cushion was across our stairs. Thats when I noticed it, when I went to go get the door.
gardenmama - 02/20/09 19:22
I know churches are tax-exempt, but I don't think they're garbage-rule exempt. If this is a frequent problem, you maybe could call the mayor's complaint hotline and see if they can find some way to deal with it. They might just send the church a notice about it, or maybe even issue them a fine.
matthew - 02/20/09 12:11
I don't think that church realizes that their uncovered trash bins are the number one source of the litter on our block of Linwood. Every week I see the trash blow out of the over stuffed bins. It's sad and disgusting.

Raving in the 90s
Category: dancing
The day after going dancing at 1:30am at Faso's Greatful Bear and Grill in Lackawanna with (e:terry) the other night, I was reading some people's jourals on purerave.com that had attended the same event. The website is pretty neat. It basically has event listings and profiles and then people say if they are attending, did attend etc. Then it links the events to the profiles. The users have galleries and journals and can review/post events. The only thing I really don't like is the adverts all over the place but I gues sthat is normal on the internet heutzutage.

Anyhow someone wrote (hhc stands for happy hardcore, a music genre)"

old school hhc
is so good
like the originals
reminds me why i got into hardcore : )
eye opener, heart of gold, shooting star, now is the time, toytown, power of love
so good, wish i was around for those days
So theres gotta be ravers from like 90-95, that're like in their 30s (40s?) now?
thats nuts
Someone should track these people down and do a fucking documentary "where are they now style"
unless they are all brain dead, or junkies, then i don't want to see that movie

Well, that makes me feel old but I am happy to report I am not a junkie or brain dead and that I am 32 not 40 yet.
jim - 02/19/09 13:14
Brain damage, check ;)
leetee - 02/18/09 10:10
i just turned 40, uh, i mean dead....
mrmike - 02/17/09 14:39
Yeah cuz, 40 is practically dead and all
james - 02/17/09 11:36
We need to get Ken Burns on this!
paul - 02/17/09 09:52
Ohm, which used to be Miss Kitty's at the corner of Main and Allen has some pretty good music. You should have her check :::link::: for all the buffalo events going on. You might have to visit the site, and then go back to buffalobassline.com if it doesn't come up. Their server is f'ed up.
heidi - 02/17/09 09:43
A law school friend of mine wants to go dancing - trance, electronica, old school r&b, disco... got any suggestions for her?

Thanks!
libertad - 02/17/09 09:23
That's funny. I guess I was 98-2000 and only slightly brain damaged.

A nation with a third of the worlds population has gone from the middle ages to the present day in a span of 50 years. They now have electricity, and that means dams, and that means cement. They are undergoing incredibly rapid urbanization. That means housing, streets, and infrastructure, and that means cement. It is such a fascinating country.
