Lazy Moros

Who buys this kind of crap. I mean I actually love cream of rice but
I would never pay that price for a plastic bowl of it frozen in a
box. Seriously, you could get a giant box of it for real cheap and
just add your own water. adding the water to the bowl before
microwaving is no less convenient then unboxing and unwrapping.

But it's organic, which means it's good for the environment. Except for the unusually large amount of nonrecyclable packaging it requires.

Isn't this just …rice? It reminds me of the individually-wrapped 'ready to microwave' potatoes which cost as much as a five-pound bag of unwrapped potatoes.

I know where it all comes from
Category: environment
The cardboard that is. I seriosuly canno believe the way people pack stuff. I thought I was getting my new external hard drive in the box and I still thought the box was big. Then it turned out to only be the 2ft firewire 800 cable. Seriously, such a giant box, stuffed with paper for this tiny, indesctructible, no moving parts firewire cable.

If I don't take the box home it will all go in the trash (e:paul,45618)

We all had the same issue when we ordered those flat imac keyboard, they weigh nothing and are tiny but came in boxes twice the size of this box with another box inside, stuffed with those styrofoam peanuts.

You'd enjoy consumerist.com. they have a whole section of ridic packing and companies that are guilty of it.

terrible.
tinypliny - 09/10/08 20:02
Gee. That IS bad. The evil is being propagated both ways. By Amazon/Buy.com/whatever online sending their meaningless humongous boxes and by Roswell so blatantly and lazily refusing to recyle.

(e:Paul), the "an-accusing-photo-a-day" is a good idea. We would probably need to label all the posts "Roswell Park Cancer Institute" to make it even more targeted and effective. I think there is a city called Roswell somewhere in the US (and aliens landed there, according to myth/reality leaks).

Roswell park refusing to recycle
Category: environment
Here we have another peek into the garbage dumpster at 901 Washington at Roswell. I seriously can't believe how much cardboard they put in the garbage, it's disgusting. There was a bunch more inside waiting to be broken down. This is just an update to (e:paul,45562)

I was noticing how many disposable coffee cups folks are using in my classes - prolly 60% of the 85 people - how hard is it to keep a travel coffee mug handy? <rolling eyes>
tinypliny - 09/10/08 03:27
And yeah, bring your own GODDAMNED COFFEE MUGS instead of taking a new plastic cup at the water cooler or the coffee machine everytime! I have said this so many times to so many people and even have a collection of salvaged real ceramic mugs that people can wash and take. But no. They never do. They throw a minimum of two or three big styrofoam and plastic cups into their trash everyday. I am finding it really hard to keep being cordial with these garbage generating non-recycling careless nutjobs. :(
tinypliny - 09/10/08 03:19
They took away no less than 25 boxes from my department floor today (I counted). My department also has 80% paper in all the garbage collected daily. I seriously am tired of picking up paper from everyone's garbage and putting them in the blue recycle bins. I really don't care that people view me as loony to go garbage dipping but it stresses me out that while I am clearing the garbage bins in my office (of 9 people) and the post-doc office (of 5 people) of paper, there are other offices that just don't care and dump all their paper in garbage. I think its not right to blame Roswell completely in this sort of behaviour. ALL EMPLOYEES MUST GO THROUGH RECYCLING EDUCATION PROGRAMS! The first commandment should be YOU MUST NOT DROP PRINT QUALITY PAPER IN GARBAGE. Take the time to move your fat sedentary being to one of the recycling bins hardly 20 feet off!

Stormy skies

The sky looks so stormy downtown. It's like in ghostbusters.
