Tile cutterWe finally bought a tile cutter. It makes doing tile possible. I
never sucessfully was able to score and crack small tile which made me
give up on tiling till today.

Diesel Power at Twentieth Century ClubCategory: allentown
The Twentieth Century club 
- I can't find their real site if they have one - has been using a really loud and obnoxious diesel generator to power something at their club for over a month now. My friend (e:holly) once said it was some women's society but really I have don't know the details. They are located on Deleware around the 590s and have another entrance in the back on Franklin across from Fugazi. Here are some pics of the property from google maps to give you an idea.

So for like the last month they have had a huge diesel guzzling power generator running 24/7 in their driveway on Franklin.
I can't understand what they can't fix that requires constant diesel based power generation. One day, a weekend, even a week, okay but when it stretches to a month and more you have to wonder what the heck is going on. While the machine uses some form of noise reduction, I would be livid if it was my neighbor.
Imagine, in the summer with your windows open next to a giant SUV sized diesel generator. I also think it trashes up the neighborhood and find it surprising that a club that has such a beautiful building and grounds is okay with this running all the time. Its probably to power air conditioning, lol (e:zobar,45203) If it is that I thinki it should be illegal to to make that much noise on an extended basis.
It seems so environmentally unfriendly.
At least they should really be required to bring it into the walled property which you can see the gate of right in front of the diesel generator.

I've been to the 20th century club many times as a wedding photographer. cool building, it's always been a womens social club since it was founded in the late 1800s. Definitely the high society womens club in Buffalo. Not sure how they stay afloat, they do weddings and member events, their membership fees must be hefty though. The building has no AC just some fans, not modernized much. I hope this generator isn't just a temporary AC power source for the summer, if they need extra power they should be building something permanent.

I'm guessing that it is supplemental power, although that is a good sized generator so who knows? Maybe it is powering much of the building until a more permanent solution is being worked on inside. You are right that they should be required to put it inside the property - I bet if the neighbor complained to the city they would be compelled to do so. I'd be driven with rage if it were me! That would make the neighbor shouting incident pale in comparison.

Mortar - Repointing my parents chimneyCategory: housing
I convinced my father to go with the real stuff for his chimney! No color mixing they only need sand color. The bag was $4.25 for 60 lbs of mortar mix. It was so cheap we bought that one even though we only needed like 20lbs. Smaller portions cost about 3 times as much, lol.
This is what we were going to use at like ~$10 per tube but I talked him out of.
Here it is after beign repointed. I wish I had a picture of before but my hands were so dirty from mixing mortar. It basically had no mortar in lots of parts and crumbly mortar in others.
As a reward I got dinner which included yummy fish.
And my favorite food in the world - seafood salad - which is clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari rings, and legs which green pepper and celery.
This is what we were going to use at like ~$10 per tube but I talked him out of.

Oops. That is the entire planet not plant. And just to clarify, the 7 plants that died comprised 7/8ths of the entire population of plants I have ever been given/gifted or owned. Earlier this year, in a spurt of valentine love, (e:imk2) (hereby called the orchidkeeper) gave me the one lucky freak (with an unpronounceable name) that survived. Since she threatened me with dire consequences if she found it dead, I tried hard the first few months (even put a spell on it) but inevitably the leaves started shriveling. In desperation, I gradually and quite stealthily, I might add, transferred its responsibility to my former officemate (who has miraculously kept a dingy cactus alive for a whole 3 years and is thus qualified for the risky enterprise of keeping a plant-with-the-death-threat alive). *hehehehe*
Probably a good idea except for the fact that I have quite possibly the blackest thumb in the entire plant. I have killed no less than 7 plants over these past 3 years!
Just buy a little plant of it at the grocery store or coop. They are easy to grow.
Rosemary makes everything rosy! And that reminds me that I need to make that rosemary flavoured veggie dish soon! Someone at the office party made it and I dream of it every once in a while. I wake up and realize that I don't have rosemary in my fridge. Come to think of it, I never have.
