You may have read this already as I just split my last journal into two parts. If not check the previous journal entry, especially if you are (e:jon) or (e:imk2)
Blog front
One of my gym friends read my blog and today was the first time I saw him since then. It is so interesting to talk to someone who knows so much about you so fast.
It really is very much like I once spoke about, being able to put your memories on a flash card and having them uploaded into someone else's brain. Too bad reading is the input mechanism because it is so inefficient.
I wonder how many more people would read the (e:paul) saga if they could say, consume it in less than five minutes. Maybe someday that will be possible. Still in general it is such a modern phenomena. I mean previoulsy, I would have had to have written a book with full color photography and then printed it many times to make this feasible. Now I just type and click publish and th e world can eat my ideas.
We got on the topic of chron's and I wonder if people around us thought I was talking about AIDS the way it sounds. The meds, the immune system drama, being sick, etc.
So the person at least knows me from the gym, what is stranger are all the messages I get from strangers about the most isolated moments in my life.
Just a couple weeks ago someone from out of state wrote to say they had designed a logo for a client that looked like the doll that (e:matthew) won for me at the bowling alley (e:paul,32763) way back when and wanted to know if she could buy it. Sadly, we had just gotten rid of it during a purge of all the children's toys now that (e:matthew) works in other people homes after we redid the floors. Anyways, random moments like that are so strange but I enjoy them.
Homefront
On another note, on Monday I picked up my meds at home because my brother works in the pharmacy and brought them home for me. It was the first ime I saw my Dad since (e:mike) told him about his being gay. It was awkward n a way because when he asked if I knew (e:mike)'s friend I said ya for about three years and then I thought about how weird that is. Three years of this person being an intrigal part of (e:mike)'s life but totally off the family chart. Maybe its normal for some other families but my family is so close knit, especially with (e:mike) living at home that it just felt like we were all living this big lie for so long.
Squiddy the Cat
I hand fed it an organic lamb chop. It really enjoyed that.

This is for (e:jon). When I was up in the great North for the party last weekend I found this flyer. I just looked it up now and it is an all nintendo themed rave
but unfortunately, in Ottawa.

Let me repeat that - a nintendo themed rave
and for (e:imk2) and much closer to home. A party with some of my fav DJs but at Madmoiselles gentlmen's club - seriously that is weird, but I would go if (e:imk2) goes with me.

Tour of WEMF 2008 on youtube
Mark EG was so insane - I still can't get over his act.

A nintendo themed rave. That has to be tough. There are going to be a ton of people dressed up as popular characters, but you don't want that, you are more original than that. So you find a lesser character.
And then it hits you, the chef from Burger Time.

Great Day At WorkCategory: work
winbind
I got to work with my fav guy to work with at work today. Whenever I work with him I learn a ton of new stuff.
We finally got all the linux servers we need to obey the reality of the Windows domain accounts and groups and keep the freakin uid across each server. This makes getting all my programmers onto the internal dev boxes in their proper groups and managing who has access a breeze. It is now all tied into their actual employee account.

New Shifts
They also are talking about moving to 4 ten hour days. Or 4 8 hour days plus one 8 hour work from home day. Not sure how I feel about either. When I was at Canisius I worked 10 hour days and while they make the week fly by, they are long.
For me I think the ideal would be four 8 hour days at work with 2 hour after dinner/gym work times from home. I mean I already do that most days anyways.
dancing
Today at the gym I found myself thinking I would have rather been dancing.

(e:tinypliny) and I are trying to do the 7am-3pm thing. 4 day workweek sounds good to me, even if they are 10 hour days.

"Today at the gym I found myself thinking I would have rather been dancing"...
It's comments like this that make me wonder how it took us so long (including you) to figure out you were gay. Love you!

The 8-hour workday at home sounds like a dream to me. I'd much rather work at home and get things done than float about aimlessly through the day at office. Though, I think things are going to change for the better from tomorrow, for me. My office moved and it's a new beginning. :)

Isn't it an awesome feeling when you get home or audit the day and feel that you consistently learn interesting new things with someone you work with? I love that feeling. Every time I meet with my advisor, I feel like I am over the moon. She has that effect on me. I always come away with new ideas. It's almost as it she injects new life into me without access to an intravenous line! I need to meet with her more often...
Ah. The reality of windows domains need to be obeyed. Corporate compliance at work? ;-) And it sounds kind of odd that linux servers are doing the actual dirty work of making things obey, of all things, windows domains!
Yeah, dancing is waaaay more fun than exercising. Seriously considering taking the leap and joining (e:Felly)/(e:Lauren)'s Wednesday hip-hop sessions...

WEMF 2008 more videos from youtubeCategory: music
As I said before, to me, Andy C was the best DJ at WEMF 2008. His opening set was so crazy. We were laying down in our tent netx to the stage and at that point and ran out to dance for the rest of his 3 hour set.
Oh I just found the mp3
on dogsonacid.com
Here it is in a youtube video
I love these kind of moments. They are few and far between when I have full suspension of disbelief and just dance like there is nothing else going on in the world
This one shows the crowd a little more
The sound on this video is so muffled out and is obviously missing a whole range of the sound plus the feeling of the bass shaking the ground but try and imagine this on the speakers shown in the pic on from my last journal (e:paul,45082)
Oh, and here is the original flyer

Wemf 2008 was insaneCategory: music
It was such an amazing time at a campsite right outside of Algonquin park in Canada. The music was awesome - I have never danced so hard in my life. I think the pinnacle was listening to Andy C of Saturday night. They are going to post recordings from WEMF 2008 at
sometime next week. Until then, and before I put up some pictures, he is a video with Andy C's music. Try and imagine this playing on 2 sets of speakers that were 2 stories tall and 2 stories wide. And a while giant row of bass speakers.

There are notes you just can't hear on this recording, not to mention the ground sharking for about a mile around. And that was only one of four main stages not to mention the 5 other renegade stages. The secondary main stage was similar in size.
We got to swim in a lake near by. The weather was amazing. In fact it was a little to amazing and we had to hide in our tent for a while on Saturday.
I don't know how I am going to feel tomorrow considering I slept for about 4 hours this whole weekend and spent a lot of time stuck in traffic. Might be the recipe for a sick day.
It took us a whiel to get there becaue we hit standstill traffic from Toronto to Barre. I took this picture, just as we were hitting the traffic jam.

Once we got there it was another hour waiting to have our car searched.

He is a small section of the tent village. I would say there were at least 5000 people. (e:terry) thought more.

This was the best cotume I saw. not that many people were outside saturday afternoon. The weather was just too hot and too sunny. I even got a little sunburned.

Here ares some other videos taken at the event I found on youtube. This was at the 4x4 stage which was where Dr. Trance, OS/2 and anabolic frolic played back to back, just before Stoneface and Terminal which is what this video is of. It was so nostaglic.
Right after that was Mark EG who also played a fantastic set. Sorry they are all dark but I didn't take them. Thanks to wheover did, (e:terry) and I were busy danicng our butts off during this.

Sadly, it was the last WEMF ever. I went to their first 3-day party called the World Trace Festival back in 1995 and now this last one. Here is the wikipedia page for it :::link:::

Wow, that sounds awesome, aside from the traffic jams of course. I'd love to go to something like that, totally jealous.

sounds like you had a ton of fun! =)
sounds like you had a ton of fun! =)
It is SO WEIRD when you meet someone who has read years' worth of your blog and totally knows all about everything you do.
I just got interviewed by a reporter who found me through here, and he had been on my Livejournal, and when he came to interview me he walked into my house and knew where everything was and asked me about every single thing I've been doing lately ("Is that the mead you're brewing? Cool! Can I see your cucumber plants? Do you have hot peppers yet? How's that dress you were sewing? It looked like it was coming along well!") and I'm like, Dude, I don't even know your name.
Anyway-- if he writes the article, I'm going to see if I can get him to mention (e:strip). :) Which is why I've been editing my profile and stuff. The story is about size-positivity, but I've been blogging about that here, and he found me because (e:strip) comes up well in Google searches for just about anything, especially if the word "Buffalo" is in the search string.
I love that orange dot doll and the pink panther sitting together! :) So cute!
ugh...the weather's been so shitty that i dont want to go anywhere. i have to go out on friday and then on sunday. if you know me, that is entirely too much stimulation for me. i'm getting old.
