Today I got this letter
Category: friendship
That meant so much to me. Today my friend Jesse, who got me into web programming and mobile devices (look where that went) and inspires me, wrote me this:

... im writing because i want to say that you have been a big
influence on my life, and that you are a really important part of my
thinking. so thats it.
later.

I only wish that person didn't live so far away in China ;(
lilho - 02/14/08 01:31
oh jesse...
imk2 - 02/13/08 13:35
wow, that is one of the nicest things i've ever heard. you're more special than you relize.
hodown - 02/13/08 11:30
You should write me a note like that. I deserve it.
james - 02/13/08 10:58
Paul, you are the wind beneath my wings!

Estrip vacation
Category: life
I took today off in order to rest but I couldn't just rest, I had to work on the new estrip a bit, which involved moving and sorting 28,000 media files.

Then I had to write some rules so that when people requested the old files in links and stuff, that they would be redirected to the new ones. I also read all the news form the mobile phone convention which was exciting but not like buy it now exciting. Everything, was about some distant other phone in the semi distant future ;( That is not why I saved up for this!!

When is the first android phone coming out after all. And when is the freakin' iphone SDK coming out - and flash for the iphone. I am ready now.

I am so ready for something exciting and new in the mobile world. What I really want is the not phone to have its own 3G. Ok maybe to get my sms accepting me into the skyfire beta program.I have been waiting two weeks!!

My Mother's Birthday
Category: holidays
We went to Black And Blue Seafood 5493 Sheridan Drive, Amherst (839-2525)
image

It was one of the most amazing meals I ever ate. The service and food was unbelievable. We had a server and two server helpers that attended to everything. I had never had that level of service anywhere.

I had Jonah crab, my mother had a 2 1/4 lb lobster. (e:mike) had scallops, my father had lamb chops and (e:terry) had ny strip steak with blue crab meat. Poor (e:matthew) was sick ;( The lobster was the biggest lobster I ever saw. It doesn't look as big in the pic as it did in real life.

image

The interior was really nice. I especially liked the suede high back booth we were in.

Here you can see part of the menu. You can see the full menu on their website

Their fireplace was awesome. I kind of want one like this.

::Download Flash Video::

Afterwards we went home for cake and gift opening.

(e:miek) trying to listen to something

Mom and me at the table
image

WE tried to take a family photo but for some reason, my brother (e:mike) cannot smile in a picture. My mom has trouble too. WE all had trouble with it basically. Maybe its genetic. We had so many retakes, this is just a small sample.

By the end I was laughing so hard. poor (e:terry) had to take the pics.

james - 02/11/08 11:07
You and your dad have good smiles consistently. Maybe your mom passed the gene to your brother and not you.
mrmike - 02/11/08 09:42
Love that first pic, Mike looks like he's dozing off. Happy Day to your mom
lilho - 02/11/08 01:20

Random Stuff
Category: stuff
I reconfigured my work area. Fianlly, a desk with enough space to actually work.
image

What is this car part? I found it in my Grandfather's stuff when I was trying to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. It seems like someone with this car would really want the part but I can't seem to idenitfy it. It is is perfect condition and made out of really heavy solid metal/steal/chrome.

It looks so retro futuristic

I set up the old server with the graphic card that used to be in it. Before it was the estrip server for two years, it was my 3D rendering station. I remember buying this FireGL X1 256MB graphic card for $1000 with my student loan money. It was so freakin' awesome at the time in 2003. Now laptops have that much graphic memory ;( It's probably worth nothing now. Luckily, it is worth something to (e:terry) who can use it to play warcraft on the machine.

You can still get a little less than a 10% return on the video card: :::link:::

Then again, no one's bid on this person's yet...
kookcity2000 - 02/11/08 11:25
that lightbar is beautiful!
You should hook it up and put it on display

Some pictures - old and new
Category: photos
I am getting ready to go out tonight with estrip gang (e:fellyconnelly,43239). I can't go to the pre-party because of the cats ;( That is my life.

I decided to wear a tie.
image

image

We were cleaning up our den today in order to move a much bigger desk for me into it when someone found this old CD of data from my old blueberry ibook abck in 1999. On it were a lot of pictures I cannot post but these ones, I can post.

image

Here is one of (e:terry) from our bedroom in Germany. He looks crazy. The photo was named crazy man, in german.
image

Oh, I miss the endless skies and warmth of arizona ;(
image

How super apple fanboy gay is this. I am almost embarassed. We took this with our webcam back in 2000.

image

One time we needed a place to live because we had just moved to Germany and didn't know anyone, so we put up these signs everywhere with our name/email. Notice the lack of much information. It led to us finding somewhere though.
image

Here are some picture of (e:terry) and Ronnie Deleski - she was one of our really good friends from Arizona who then also went to school in Germany and visited us there.

image

image

image

Okay, this one is insane - I don't really remember the details but I am pretty sure Ronnie and (e:terry) were very drunk and silly youths at the time.

image

(e:terry) and I in our room
image

(e:terry) looking young and cute back in 1999 when our apartment was 15x9 with three of us living there. We had to roll up our futon bed in order to use the oven. It did have a walk in tiled shower though.
image

(e:terry) looking strong

metalpeter - 02/10/08 14:08
I can't imagine the pictures that you can't post. That one of terry where you can see everything but also see nothing looks very art like as if it was done like that on purpose, that is good photogroghpy. In terms of Ronnie she is she is cute. She has that the look like you know her even when you have never met her. Also in that smoking picture it looks like they really arn't smoking.
james - 02/10/08 13:57
Hey now, Terry is still a sexy betch.
lilho - 02/10/08 00:35
wow, terry you were/are such a sexy betch. how did paul get so lucky. i wish i was so lucky. i am not that lucky. it is the new chinese year, so maybe this year is my year, eh?
