Well, a little respect please as I am MrMike, lord of the idiots. I breakfasted at Spot and headed out into the cold. It was pretty surreal to be a part of it. The hockey game was the centerpiece to a carnival like atmostphere. I suppose the thing other than the money that attracted me to working on this stuff was that it is just good for your soul to be a part and even backstage at something bigger than you. Despite my forgetting to set my DVR for the shenanigans, I was glad to go and do my thing one LAST time. I want my Sundays back, and my late saturdays for sure. I couldn't snap all the pictures, but I got a few good looks.
The parking lot was overrun by inflatable jerseys

I thought of (e:chico) was this one as they were raising NHL team flags, this was the Islanders colors going up (trust me)

Here's were NBC's announcers had to set

This was at the bottom of my Isle, where they kept Bob Costas. I got a handshake, but I'm pretty sure I can get him into the movies at a discount (Not a tall guy)

The Canadian equivalent

What it looked like from the ground level

I smelled like Co2 all day

More big inflatable crap

A little more ice level

Opening Faceoff

Parking lot yahoos on stills

The calm before the snow storm

The players come out preceeded by bagpipers, hokey but cool

The seats of the affluent

The wealthy children got to play

Vile critters, get out

Thanks for coming, tip your usher

Missed the shot of the four blackhawk helicopters coming over during the anthem, but it was nice to say seeya to reclaim some of my own time again. Got the job thing fixed thanks to the Zoo, time to work on the other stuff.
Guys, I think the announcer might have meant "Shinny" which is old school canadianese for pickup style outdoor hockey
yeah... it's a good thing I ended up NOT having tickets, as I woke up at 1pm.
Woulda been cool to be there- but nursing a hangover in the snow probably would've been miserable. Glad you had fun.
Oh, and thanks for the yowza. Shucks.
The standards are different in Canada. This is very true with radio also and you can here swearing (not sure how much) on the radio. Some of it has to do with time. There is a station called City TV that is on public air waves and that you can see nudity on after I think 10pm. On CBC you used to be able to watch a show that came on saturday nights after the news called the sex files. Granted it was an educational sex show and it was on late so sometimes it was a bit graphic. I don't know what the standards are but maybe (e:leetee) or (e:vincent) might be know more about that then I.
Cool pics... Thanks! I wish I could have gone.
I have to say my two favorite parts were when the players were coming out of the tunnel at the beginning and just watching the game itself with the giant snowflakes coming down.
Overall, it was pretty surreal. I can only imagine what it must have been like to be there!
I didn't see you run off last night. But it was a pleasure as always. Glad you didn't freeze to death out there today.
It was a great game on TV too. Nice that you got to see it happen in person. A funny thing was said on the CBC broadcast. I swear I heard the color commentator say during one of the many zamboni victory laps "they were having a shitty game". Doesn't Canada have a government agency as militant as our FCC?
Nice Pictures thanks for sharing. The teams coming out to the bag pipers looked pretty cool on TV. I thought those kids who played where kids from the Buffalo Public schools from that Program Hasek started. But to be honest on TV it wasn't clear really. Those Helicopters did look pretty sweet they seem to go by very quickly.
