somehow, I end up like this anytime I encounter even the tiniest slope while XC skiing.
I still don't know how to get up after a fall. But now I am quicker at unlocking the boots from the binding :)

(e:metalpeter) I was soooo trying to remember what what you told me last year! You are right, you did give me advice. I can only remember something about knees above skiis, or in my case, skiis above knees, lol. I will have to write down what you said :) I'' get the hang of it- or I can learn not to fall!! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this to me!
(e:pyrcedgrrl) -- you are welcome to join me ANYTIME. You can even borrow my skiis. I'll trail behind you in my boots, camera ready... mwuahahahahhahaha >:P

I remember a post like this is the past. I guess I didn't give you good enough lessions on how to get up from a fall. I used to X country ski. First of if at all posible your skis need to wind up facing sideways to the hill. That way when you do stand up your skis and you don't go down the incline or is that decline. You need to see where your body is in comparison to your feet and skis. From there move your body or usaly eiser to move your legs so that you are in a simalur position to sitting on the edge of a bed or even a couch or chair. The important thing is that both knees and feet are not behind, or are infront of your upper body. As long as they are you can push up with your legs like you in a chair at the same time use your ski poles and arms to make sure your skis stay flat on the ground and pareall to each other. This would be so much eiser to show ya then tell ya. Hay kinda sounds like a fun (or maybe not, not sure) game for a future e;strip party. I can picture my self standing there and you knocking me over and saying how do you get up with skis again. That being said if you hit your head and are disoriented undoing the skies is much eiser stay safe and have a great time.

winter dayCategory: nature
from yesterdays post:
I fulfilled both 'tasks' as evidenced by a few pictures of some of the time spent outside. It really was nice to go out and not be frozen! Afterward trudging through knee deep snow, I spent the remaining moments of daylight looking out the bay window for a view of the side and part of the back yard. Joey joins me in watching the snowflakes fall before succumbing to my lap followed by my succumbing to his purring. I was only up for less than a few more hours before I fully fell asleep- straight through the morning. Weird yet enjoyable dreams were had.
these pics are so much cooler big, some of the details are lost at this size.
ok. I'm feeling it (going outside to play), even if just for a few minutes. I can catch up on sleep later.

Nice pic of Joe surveying the landscape. I like that first shot a lot. The branches (from the image) are deceptive in terms of their size. Nice to have one's sense of proportion knocked askew now and again.

where to find bambooCategory: hair
I am looking for bamboo ('lucky bamboo'), the kind that I can purchase by itself. I do not want to buy it already shoved into a vase and pebbles. I have my own. I killed my last bamboo. Any idea where to buy single bamboo??
It is really pretty outside. This is the ideal part of winter that I like. The temps are above freezing, the air is still and the snow sticks to everything but the streets. It's quite pleasant to be outside.
Which I would like to do now. I am debating on whether I am 'feeling it' or not.
I slept hard last night. I am generally a light sleeper and despite that, i am normally well rested. I spent several hours on the floor of my room listening to Moby, sipping Poland Spring sparkly water and smooshing together charcoal and chalk art medium. I was very intent on the messy renderings; lost and comfortable in my own little world.
Afterwards I began a new book. I lost track of time and I am not sure what time I finally fell asleep, but I noticed that I got through more than half the book in one sitting. My dreams picked up on thoughts pertaining to the book and the prior art session. I was in a deep sleep that I was aware of while I was sleeping. I was plunged deep into the swirls of dreams and when I wanted to wake up, it took longer to come to the surface. I pulled myself out of the dream state, not that there was anything bad happening, it was just so weird to be that deeply removed from the world. After that, I tossed and turned and was a bit physical in my sleep. I thought I heard things in the house and this warped my perception of reality and dreaming. At some point I wacked my bed side clock on the floor and knocked a bunch of other stuff over. Although I am a light sleeper, I rarely move much during that time. This was a strange night- not sue how much sleep I actually got.
But I woke with energy and got moving on the day.
A haircut and a few errands later, I return home feeling ready to cozy up with a blanket and pillow.
But I look outside and wish to go back out into the fat snowflakes.
ok. I'm feeling it, even if just for a few minutes. I can catch up on sleep later. Look at all the big fat snowflakes! (If it was freezing out, my ass would be buried under that blanket already!)

I was just looking for flowers to send to my mom for her birthday and i was reminded of something i meant to tell you about a week ago. We saw some individual lucky bambo at Home Depot on Elmwood. Each branch, i guess you would call it, was about 2 feet tall. Not sure if that's too big for you. Or, if you already found some. Just wanted to let you know. :O)

hehe, I killed my 'lucky' bamboo too, then wondered what that said about me. I think you're best off just buying a new one, or if you really like your old vase, buy a new one and throw that vase away.

cherish the canvasCategory: photoshoot pt 2
"Cherish your visions. Cherish your ideals. Cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment; of these, if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built." ~James Allen (1855-1942)

the bears in the snow make me want to cry. :(
haha, (e:brit). I *really* wanted to pet the grizzlies. They look squishy and soft and cuddly and cute. I just want to hug them and kiss them and love them and...
best if i didnt though, huh?
I am totally with ya, (e:metalpeter) - when people do dumb things to get themselves mangled by a wild animal and then the animal gets punished to death for it. :(
I didnt get far into the zoo before the hail/snow/rain began. I did go in to see the elephants as well, but I was too captivated by them to get my camera-phone out-I'll get a variety of pics next time for sure!
I got my elephant bracelet! My mom picked it up for me, I love it! I want to save the elephants!! I know it is bad that they are in the zoo I guess but I am glad they are there because I like to see them and stuff. I guess i wish they had a huge refuge but we'll see@
I will admit you got my hopes up, I was hoping to see some tiger pics, oh well. You really don't want to go over there as cute as they look they are vicous. Ok I'm about to go on a rant here. You know what really pisses me off is when some dumy or some drunk go into a animal habitat and what that causes. They always go and shot the animal. That is so backwards screw that if mr Joe Cool wants to go swim with the bear then it is his fault he get eatin don't take it out on
the bear. That would be like if I broke into someones house and and as I went to rape the wife the husband son wakes up and protects his wife by smashing something over the guys skull and the charge the son. I'm not talking about when someplaces have a thing where you can feed baby animals that is completely differant. But why would you shot the animal that has done nothing wrong. I can see shoting near the animal to try and get it to go away. But to kill an animal or just really hurt it to save a guy who knew he shouldn't be there and went in there anyways is such a waste. I say shot the guys and maybe if he just lays there the animal will leave him alone.
"look, ron, I'm on a hairy tractor"
Ain't the zoo a hoot this time of year. There is the one outdoor aquatic exhibit that is still inhabited that is a kick as well.
don't cuddle the grizzly bears!
Yay! We heart elephants!
