[size=m]Grant Street[/size]
(e:metalpeter) [inlink]metalpeter,428[/inlink] Here are my answers about Grant Street.
I think that Grant Street will experience some of the riches from the elmwood area but I don't know if that is necessarily a good thing. It just depends how far it goes. It is good for investors and for people with money who want to "settle" the neighborhood but generally it will drive prices up and poor people out. And where do they go, then? Gentrification totally changes the demographic of the neighborhood. Some people describe that as progress. I my opinion it's not always that good.
I mean, I think it is important for people to move in that care about their neighborhood. And I defiantly think that slum lords and crack houses need to be dealt with but if it goes too far, it will end up like yuppified elmwood where the price of housing jumped from the $400-$600 range to the $700-$1000 range much faster than general inflation. You can just see it in the prices of Wilson's Farms. They are way higher than we pay over here near main street. (e:terry) could say more about that.
The worst scenario is that it gets bought up by out of town investors who then rent the houses at out of town prices. Gentrification is nice for the settlers but not for the people who already live in the neighborhood.

so when I was working for the wonderful (cough, cough) people at forever elmwood, a mr. bob frankie told me that it's his goal to forever Grant things next. Looks like that old bald commerical bastard is going to get his way. He totally has an italian fetish so maybe he will not completly let the place be destroyed.

Thanks for the comments. Paul you make some great points. I never thougt about the fact that it could be bad for the people who live there.
I couldn't live in suburbia. The houses all looking the same and everything spreed out. I like everything close and easy to get to. I can't offerd living on Elmwood. I might be able to live on Richmond if heat was included. I think that as long as the shops stay local it won't turn into amherst or at least that is what I hope.

I'll add my response to Metalpeter's question here. Paul's right, Elmwood is turning into a city version of Williamsville. Holy fuck! I moved to the city to be away from suburbia and the soul-draining assholes. I think Elmwood will eventually spread out E/W. Let's just hope it doesn't turn into Amherst South.

Basra Javascript and BookshelvesWhile eating breakfast this morning i realized most of the books I own are just for decorative purposes. I wonder what that means for the future of books. I want a Sony libre
I feel bad for Basra because he has no idea that his summer wonderland paradise is coming to and end. Although his luxury condo is nice. He definitely prefers to be outside. I guess he probably has some idea because he dozen't get to sleep outside at night anymore.
I worked with students for about 5 hours yesterday helping them build javascript games. It is fun when it works.

Shopping LifeCategory: shopping
Today we went shopping for new shoes for (e:terry) and (e:matthew). We only go about once every two years so by the time we go it is really necessary. I didn't get shoes because I spent too much on my phone annd I bought a pair of shoes one year ago. One more year to go!!
I wrote a letter to (e:twisted) at the mall while eating tastu teriaki chicken. Well not tasty but satisfying because I was so hungry. Poor (e:matthew) could barely eat anything. For some reason the cingular smtp server wasn't working so I couldn't send it. She also wasn't on IM when I tried so here it is.
Afterwards we went to elmwood to get clams one last time before summer ends. They are so yummy.
I saw that (e:jason) and (e:joshua) took down the banner, so if any wants to be the new home of it, it needs a new home. I would put it on linwood but i don't think it would serve it's purpose.
I made a new wallpaper for my phone. It appears smaller here than on the phone screen which is 640 x320

Those clams look really good. Why isn't anybody eating them?

I went to (e:haikuster)'s wedding [inlink]matthew,618[/inlink] yesterday with (e:matthew) and (e:terry). It was a beautiful ceremony at the Deleware Park Rose Gardens which look much nicer now that they planted flowers where the rose bushes died.
It was nice to see (e:haikuster)'s parents too. I hadn't seen them in years. It was so strange to see (e:haikuster), my first girlfriend, get married.
Sorry I have been so absent from everyone else's life this week. I am really busy trying to get my data sorted. (E:matthew), (e:terry) and I had fish (blue smiley), chicken (yellow smiley), and beef(red smiley). I had gotten the salmon but matthew couldn't eat the beef gravy so I had to switch. I was actually quite happy about it. I felt bad for (e:rachel) because everyone was talking about killing and eating animals and she is vegetarian.
