Sometimes, you have to listen to yourself.
However, your self is not only your mind or body. You actually have multiple selves, each of which lives on inside the hearts of anyone you have ever interacted with. For example, I have a self that lives within my brother, my father, and all of my friends. Each of these selves are different, as everyone views me differently.
How do you know which self is the correct self? Is that for us to know? How do you know which "you" should be listened to?

Who are You?02/05/2006 02:49 #23627

So (e:Joshua) and my friend Jerry went out tonight, so I've been home alone all night deciding what to do. I directed a whole mass full of people to (e:Dcoffee)'s article - I'm not saying how, but suffice it to say there should be more internet traffic headed in that direction.
I've been eating a few Ranchero Doritos tonight. I don't eat chips or most other kinds of snack food very often anymore, but Jerry brought them over and I've been a little hungry. I'm not sure what "Ranchero" flavor is - with other types of Doritos you know for sure, but the only way I can describe the flavor is "spicy."
I realized that there are flavors that I enjoy in potato chip form which I am afraid of in their natural state. For example, I think Cool Ranch Doritos taste really good, yet I don't eat ranch, nor any other kind of salad dressing. I also like Sour Cream and Chives, and Sour Cream and Cheddar chips, but I do not eat sour cream. I'm not sure what I am afraid of, but I don't miss eating salad dressing or sour cream, and I don't think they are the healthiest things in the world anyway so I'll stick to my once in a blue moon eating of the chips. It is Super Bowl time, you know.
With the absence of any real humans to talk to or interact with tonight, I decided to interact with people via internet forums. I couldn't be more thrilled with the result - I talked to a guy (a Christian Liberal) who sees the world much like I do. He directed me to his blog and recommended a book to me. I checked it out on Amazon and I cannot wait to start reading the book. I am not going to talk about the subject of the book because you don't care to know, and I don't care to tell you. Nevertheless I have high hopes about it, and with some luck I hope to learn more about myself and try to make more sense out of my life.

Glad you enjoyed your self. It's good that you got something out of forums. When I have used them I have just stated my thoughts and read others thought. My plan was to go out and I went to coles only to find out the bar was closed for a private party. So I hung out, outside for maybe a minute and didn't see anyother (e:peeps) so I went hoped on a bus home got some food and watched the End of the Sabres game. They won in the shootout.

The Trouble With BoysCategory: gender
Here's a very interesting article from Newsweek about Boys in Education. It's definitely worth your time to read it.

Little bit to long to read online, plus I missed the PBS special to, thought it might be interesting.

I got all excited- "'the trouble with boys'?? oooh good- is someone finally going to tell me what's going on those heads?"
haha...
but it's just an article saying girls are smarter than boys- I could have told you that.
(settle down I'm just kidding.)
In all seriousness... I'm not sure how I feel about that article... I'm sure there's validity to it, but I don't like when people try to makes excuses and justify behavior- it takes away the accountability. Like when parents think "my kid has ADD. that's ok. it's a diagnosis. he's sick. he needs meds." Rather than thinking "my kid is a brat and maybe I should work on that."
But i dunno. School was always pretty easy for me, and I guess I feel like if anybody just works hard enough and tries hard enough, they can succeed too. But I guess that's not fair of me...

Great article! I actually have the beginnings of a post on this very topic stored in Word. Well, more specifically relating to the 60/40 split on college campuses. The article is right in saying we recognized the gap with women and created Title IX to address that. Not only have women caught up, but are now passing the guys. In all our haste to close that gap we created a new one.

Beach BoysCategory: music
(e:Ajay) is right, what I posted are lyrics from a song called "Warmth of the Sun". I just copy and pasted the lyrics and forgot to write the title in. Beach Boys fans would automatically recognize the song, but I don't know that there are too many fans here on the strip.
I started thinking about the Beach Boys again last night while Josh and I were watching War of the Worlds - you know when Tom Cruise sings "Little Deuce Coupe" to Dakota Fanning.
More on this later...it will take a while for me to construct what I really want to say.

Where it all StartedCategory: life
What good is the dawn
That grows into day
The sunset at night
Or living this way
For I have the warmth of the sun
(Warmth of the sun)
Within me at night
(Within me at night)
The love of my life
She left me one day
I cried when she said
"I don't feel the same way"
Still I have the warmth of the sun
(Warmth of the sun)
Within me tonight
(Within me tonight)
I'll dream of her arms
And though they're not real
It's like she's still there
The way that I feel
I loved like the warmth of the sun
(Warmth of the sun)
It won't ever die
(It won't ever die)
That grows into day
The sunset at night
Or living this way
For I have the warmth of the sun
(Warmth of the sun)
Within me at night

That sounds like the philosphy of many masks. It goes along the line of we all ware many masks and the masks we wear are differant for different people. But you are looking at it from the inside of the person and not the extrernal interesting I must admit.
Maybe there is no "correct" self. Or, on the other extreme, there is one essential self and everyone else's perceptions of you are a product of their self. I tend to believe the former because I think (hope) people evolve constantly and learn in each new situation. Either way, if there are multiple voices disagreeing about serious things then a person needs to deal with the problems that are causing the cognitive dissonance. Interesting post.
We are a different person depending on who we are with because of the way our energies interact with each other. No matter, at the core we always carry our true self, that which is constant through each interaction. Listen to that.
