Lawsuit filed against City of buffalo.
Category: elmwood
This is the latest on the hotel that I wrote. More here:

Arthur J. Giacalone, an attorney representing Nancy Pollina, Patricia Morris, who operate the Don Apparel, a vintage clothing and collectibles shop at 1119 Elmwood Avenue, Angeline Genovese and Evelyn Bencinich, owners of residences on Granger Place in Buffalo abutting the rear of the proposed hotel site, Nina Freudenheim, a resident of nearby Penhurst Park, and Sandra Girage, the owner of a two-family residence on Forest Avenue less than a hundred feet from the proposed hotel's sole entrance/exit driveway, have filed a lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court against the city of Buffalo's Common Council and Planning board, alleging that the proposed Elmwood Village hotel was approved "without giving meaningful consideration to either the impact on the adjoining residential neighborhood, or the unique character of this section of Elmwood Avenue," according to Giacalone.

I read an article about that in the Buffalo News today. I understand that there is a opostion to the Hotel but I think sueing the city is a bad idea. If I where opposed to the Hotel and thought it was a horid Idea I would still think that the law suite will do more damage. It makes it look like the people of Buffalo don't embrace change and try to spot projects from comming here. All it takes if for one influnacale person or company to feal that way and tell others and then no body will come to buffalo.

Family 2
Well th ultrasound came back on my sister, and there IS something there, but they are not sure what. There are 2 possibilities: either a tumar of a sort or cysts. They are hoping they are cysts. If so they can remove them in a week. If not then they don't know. They are doing more tests and I should know more next week. This is the main reason I have not been around lately. I have a lot going on and just have a lot of thinking to do.

P.S. Why is my "red" theme green? And why does it look like pills are separating my journal enteries? Just curious.

Please send your sister get well wishes from me. And the gift of hope and possitive thinking for her, you and the rest of her family and friends.

As for the colours you are seeing here -- Paul has created several themes that can be changed. They are along the top on the right hand side. Hold your mouse over them, and you should be able to see the theme name (like Ontario, Seafoam, River, Sand, Chowards). Click on them, and your colours will change. Hope that helps!

Well I was going to talk about the stupid hotel, but I just read my e-mail and the hotel is the LAST thing on my mind.

My mom e-mailed me and it was bad news. Apparently my sister, 22, has been diagnosed with cancer. I really don't want to get into it, but its pretty serious.

She had a pap smear and it came back "abnormal". Apparently there are three stages of abnormal; just abnormal, moderate and severe. It seems she is in between moderate and severe. She had an ultrasoud but we don't know the results yet. Geez....can things get any worse?

My thoughts go out to your sister and your family. I hope she'll heal and have a good recovery.
leetee - 04/02/06 20:50
So sorry to hear about your sister. Thank goodness the abnormal cells were found now. I have been through something similar, but without the early detection, so i feel hopeful and optomistic for your sister's recovery. I wish her and your whole family the best of luck!
jenks - 04/02/06 20:19
Hey...
Sorry to hear it too. And granted I don't know the details, but generally abnormal pap means cervical dysplasia/cancer, which is usually very treatable. Often a little outpatient procedure. Not to diminish the scariness etc of it all for you guys.
I hope things go well for her...
metalpeter - 04/02/06 11:33
Wow that sucks 22 is very young for cancer. I wish you luck in dealing with it and you sister luck as well. I know luck isn't really the right word but not sure how else to say it.

Elmwood Village Hotel approved
PROTEST THE ELMWOOD VILLAGE HOTEL AGAIN ON SATURDAY MARCH 25 AT 2:00PM ON ELMWOOD AND FOREST!!!

STOP THE ELMWOOD VILLAGE HOTEL PETITION:

The Common Council voted today and approved the plans for the Elmwood Village Hotel.

The project is a done deal. I really don't know what else to say other than, I will have to likely move and or quit my job.

Pano is going to sue and it looks like we ar going to try and start a "fundraiser" to take the case to the state supreme court. Yeah, I know. I am crazy. At this point, wishful thinking is all I/we have.

Well, I have voiced my doubts about the viability of a hotel on its own (chicken before the egg syndrome). I really, really hope I'm wrong. I hope Elmwood doesn't turn into a city-based Williamsville. Again, I really, really hope I'm wrong.

I think your talents and passion are best saved for the next fight.
