It's been a while

I'm just watching the Coachella a feed on youtube and I have to say I'm kicking myself for not going for week #2 as I'm off, but I already booked a trip down to the SRQ in Florida. I caught Spiritualized, Phoenix, Social Distortion & right now Paul Oakenfold. One of my best experiences in my life was a random trip to California which had me end up at Epicenter.

Anyways in watching a clip of Father John Misty I read something from his Wiki page that just nailed my earlier life.

On his upbringing Tillman stated: "I was actually a pretty aimless kid, I didn’t really do anything: I never really studied hard and all my parents were interested in was my spiritual status. When I was younger my reality was heaven and hell and angels and all this bullshit that doesn’t mean anything in terms of becoming an actualised human being."

So true, I should be more of an actualized human being instead of worrying about making stupid money decisions & other crap that I do and do not deal with...

Back to the fun

Yea, so I'm back to my regular scheudle for the foreseeable future, meaning that now I can actually blog the stuff that I've been intending to do without being squeezed for time or getting distracted.

The weird thought that I've had is that with the whole Swine Flu thing, the name of it H1N1 to me would make a great German Synthpop name. The other night when I was at the Transmission Dance Party, I ran into an old friend of mine who kind of lead me into that kind of music. It's one of those relationships where she's an intelligent conversation and fun at times, with the only problem being that she's all about her way & a total energy vampire to boot. So I haven't seen or talked to her in a year, by my choice as I don't need the draining effect around me. The only weird thing is that for the most part I haven't listened to that kind of music since I've stopped hanging around her or going to Diablo and I'm not going to change that at all either.

It's just that even though she's a drain, there were some things that were descent about her and some of her influences were a good time. The problem is that the big picture overall is negative unfortunately and to keep my sanity and positive momentum I just have to plain stay away from her.

Anyway here's a happy uplifting German Synthpop song for these times...

strange phone day

Yesterday I was just kicking back on my lunch break in my car just taking a short nap when I received a phone call. " 'MY RL 1st Name' This is Grandpa!" My response, "Umm, Ahhh, I don't have a Grandpa" His Response, "Sorry I must have the wrong number."

Seriously, I have heard of EVP and other weird electronic communication devices, but I haven't had a grandpa since 1987. That's the year both of them died. Second one of them didn't even speak English, he only knew Polish. Plus the guy didn't sound anything like my "American" grandpa, from what I could remember. Anyway logically I knew it was most likely an honest mistake, but on another level it kind of weirded me out.

Then as I was leaving work, I received a text message wishing me a very happy belated birthday from the two women I had brief relationship with a few years back! It just caught me as something a bit out of left field. Seriously did Obama's election cause a tear in the time space continuum to have strange communications sent to me yesterday?

bong vodka, beer & tough economic times

I saw this last night when I was wine shopping, this must be shared with everyone. My first thought was, "Are you Freaking Serious! Who buys this?"

image

**********

The other day I was browsing in the beer isle and realized that half of the selection is the more expensive, "micro brews" well at least some of them are I suppose. It is just kind of ironic that in an economically depressed area the beer selection if tilted towards the more expensive fare while the more economic brands are getting harder and harder to find. It it wasn't for the Pabst Blue Ribbon revival there wouldn't be any good value beer around. My point is the way the economy is going in regards to lower purchasing power and stagflation I just can't see people in the future especially in this are paying $12 a 6 pack for Pete's Wicked Hype.

image

How long do you think it will be before everyone can only afford the "cheap stuff?"

I got an email from a friend of mine today that basically declared that we are now back in the "Jimmy Carter" Dimension all except for the double-digit interest rates. Just think about the clothes you see in the malls, the brown, orange and yellow metro rail colors. The only thing left is for people in this area to go back to drinking Genny.

*****

Speaking of the economy. All I can say is that although I have been listening to Coast to Coast Am for about a decade and there are usually a ton of crackpots that are guests, that show the other night really scared the shit out of me. It's just that usually those guys would make some dire prediction for say 2012 the Mayan Calender end time thing. It is far enough out where you don't get too crazy. It's when those guys make predictions near term and HIT with the accuracy you take notice. So basically I have no choice but to play the economic endgame strategy with my portfolio and try to benefit from the economy going to hell in a shopping cart. All I can say is it's going to be Precious Metals and S&P 500 Put options for me this year

Inspired by Peter

I've decided to just go with the Greg Dulli/Afghan Whigs pic & usersound up until V-day.

It's not that I'm bitter I'm just contemplating that's all. After a hanging out at the Brickyard in Lewiston tonight with my friend Pete & his Eastern European hottie whatever she would be classified I was reminded of the good and also the bad of my experience with women from that part of the world.

All I can say is I am just a bit dumbfounded by who goes out in Lewiston. I get the usual I'm going out but at the same time I'm too good for anyone type of thing, I've been dealing with it all my life down here. I was just blown away by the Kids from Grand Island that were hanging out at the B-Yard tonight. Seriously they were had their G.I. high school football jackets on.

I don't know maybe I'm from the area but I just don't get the attraction to come down here in the middle of winter. Also seeing some other high school kids rolling up to the place to get X's on their hands was dumbfounding. I did love the part when the tail end of the group decided to bail on the idea & leave. Whatever, the people that have moved down here in the last 5 years are naive & just don't get it.

IN the meantime I have to get up in 6 hours for something that I may just be overreacting to that has long sorted itself out.

Tomorrow I should have a coherent post when I'm not exhausted from a long week that has been deviated from a nice sleep schedule.
