Day Off.

Day OFF! I also have Friday and Sunday off.

Woke up at 10:30! Wow that is a great feelin- waking up late..

Chatting now with my brother whose Golden Retriever is in the middle of having puppies. He is doing the reporting while his wife is helping with the delivery. I was hoping that she would pop out a random dachshund for me, but I somehow don't see that happenin.

Snap Pea Crisps are so delicious, but something tells me that they are extremely bad for you.

My big plans for the day? carmelizing onions, roasting some garlic and making a big crazy pasta salad with it all. we will see how that works out... i have a feeling I may be getting a bit silly.

Watched Sweeney Todd last night. Wow gore. I knew it was (tim burton and all) but man.. Burning flesh is disturbing. I was also amused to see that three characters from the Harry Potter movies were in this movie. Bellatrix LeStrange, Peter Pettigrew and Severus Snape. I don't know their real names.

Anyway, I should be off to some cookin for my woman. She is soooo spoiled.

protests

i am so very excited for the lovely weather, even if i know that it will be all overwith in a few days. weird ass buffalo ups and downs in weather has been craaazyyy...

I've been taking note of the fact that there are all these demonstrations and protests against the beijing olympics. good for them! It really is amazing to think that all so far both london and paris have had protests against them, and have tried to extinguish the torch. countries pulling together! i wonder what will happen when they make their way to san francisco? that will be interesting to see.... I do intend on boycotting watching the olympics myself, which is very sad for me since i love me some olympics.

im at work and its a crappy crappy day. losing money left and right. grrr... and off i go to find me some lunch.

sleeping with fishes

i feel so out of the loop after being away for so long.

We got our internet kit yesterday and we are just waiting for a) me to go buy a wireless router and b) the service to be turned on. Currently I am online at work, and for once, i'm not crazy busy out of my eyeholes. Which is good because I have no desire to do ANYTHING today.

Happy birthday (e:jim)!

i just realized i have been missing for several days and yet i have nothing really to say. How very lame!

catchup

been without internet for a few days. The internet gods have weilded the angry hand of encryption onto our free web access.

At work now. Lunch break. Just ordered some internet so god knows when we are going to get it at home. Also going to probably need to buy a wireless modem at some point or string cable across my apartment like christmas lights. maaann this is cutting into my puppy money.

Friday we watched 'anatomy' and i have to say its a good thing we didn't have internet because i would have had to yell at (e:jim) for that one... it was sooo baddddd! actually it probably would have been much better if it was dubbed in english. Because the voice overs were done by people who didn't even seem interested in acting at all. it was horrible. Subtitles would have been more acceptable.

Saturday's battle at buffalo was the greatest ever... my teacher even slid across the floor on his head. the greatest move ever.

Sunday we went to the park behind the albright knox. which was pretty cool and i can't wait to have a puppy dog that i can bring there...

and now monday. back to work.

Cow

I just spent about ten mnutes looking at the Dachshund Rescue of North America's website and at all the special need puppies and I think I would like to cry. I wish I had the place and space for fostering dogs.

Easter was a great day off. Went to my grams for brunch and chatted it up with all my fam. Nice to see everyone finally after all these months. you would think that i would see them more often now that i've moved within 80 miles of them, huh?

Well my sister in law works for a butcher and I came home with a bunch of ham steaks and chicken. In a few weeks she and her brother are splitting a quarter of a cow, and she invited me to split some of it too. Score. Cow.

Lessee what else. Going to the Toronto Zoo on April 18th. Since I don't have a passport I believe I need a DL PLUS a birth certificate. I think I have my birth certificate somewhere, but it must be hanging out in the same place that Lauren's missing passport is.

Ah well time to get ready for work...

doxies

i got (e:lauren) excited about the dachshunds i think... hehe

I have such a constant set of vacations that I am due to go on throughout the summer that it will be difficult to bring Ralphy with us. Can't leave old Ralphy at home alone like the cats.

I am finding that if there is a dachshund in a shelter, it is so much of a mix with other breeds that it doesn't even look like a doxie anymore. Or its old and cranky. I mean I feel so guilty leaving those little guys there in the shelter, but I don't want to wait forever for the right one with rescue needs to come along... How mean and horrible does that sound?

(E:Lauren) and I have discussed the possibility of being a foster home for puppies lateron in life. I think it will be a wonderful experience when we get to that point where we will have a yard and whatnot.
what could be better than a yard full of dog poo, right?

I have to go to work...

easter puppy!

Ok guys first of all I've missed (e:matthew)'s birthday.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTHEW! Sorry I missed it!

I dunno what else i missed as I don't have much time to read posts... I know you are all forgiving..

(e:lauren) and I colored easter eggs last night. And by easter eggs I mean my fingers. So now i have a red finger, a blue finger and a green finger. how fun is that?

I also bought her a pot of some tulips. I have high hopes for these suckers... they will survive!

I have finally worn her down in terms of letting me have a dog. So I've decided that I'm going to have a Dachshund.
Her stipulations for said dog: Black and tan, Shorthair, Must cost around $100 or less.

We also think it must be young so it will be good with cats, but I guess that is something that is flexible. I know that when we have a larger place and maybe a yard we may do the whole 'rescued animal' thing... but right now i just want my Dachshund.

Soooo... if anyone has any clues on where I can find my dog... lemme know!!!

prophets and revelry

Okay after hearing all the yelling and commotion yesterday I have to say that next year i will definetely be out enjoying st. paddy's day...

I spent the day catching up on chores and painting. Which was nice. in fact i think i spent about 4 hours painting.

Put aside my book on aliens and multidimensions finally as my brain hurt and slowed to a drizzle every time i attempted to make sense of it.

I finally picked up my book on the readings of "Edgar Cayce" the crazy prophet of the early 1900s. Its interesting to read some of his predictions (Nebraska will be the west coast by 2100) but the thing I really have to push through is that he was extremely religious and since he lived around the turn of the century I have to pick through it to understand. He speaks as if he were reading directly from a Bible, if the Bible discussed the bombing of pearl harbor.

Ah well.. hopefully this will go better than the last book. I do think I should be reading more...

okay off for some stretching and, yes... work.

cheating with thai food

i'm taking baby steps here...

we have been getting the 'thai kitchen' stuff from wegmans.

Thai kitchen

and decided it was time to try and make it myself.

but not really since I just bought the premade peanut sauce and some rice noodles. kind of lame cop out but whatever...

but looking at peanut sauce recipes - it doesn't look too difficult... so I guess i'll try that at some point...

but really i have a strong desire to make my own spinach pasta... it actually looks kind of easy... we will see...
