On Wednesday. (e:paul) and I went to the Datsik concert at Town Ballroom.
These babies were here to wish me goodbye from 901 when I left work.
The concert opened up with a DJ that I initally thought was Datsik. He played a mix of dubstep/drum and bass prefaced by either a top 40, Bon Jovi, or mariachi song with no transition. It was so strange to see all these 19 year old bros screaming to a remix of "Living on a Prayer".
Next Datsik came on. I'm didn't think I was into dubstep but this was absoutely ridiculous. Town Ballroom felt like what I imagine a crazy big city club to be like because it was so packed. It's really weird how quickly dubstep/electronic music went from something nerdy when I was in college to big trendy shows like this now. There were people trying to mosh and crowd surf, but the best dancing was in the back where we had tons of room.
Speaking of the crowd, they were ridiculous and so young. All these guys who were rolling so bad really wanted us to come to Bambino for some show after. It was a work night so Paul and I went to underground instead. I haven't been there in a while and it's very run down, but I think I prefer it over Cathode. The dance area is way cooler. Some drunk old man started yelling at us about peanut butter and jelly.
This sounds like it'd be one of those classy underground nights
The night ended with Jim Steakout and some greasy veggie tacos.
On the way home, we saw this pile of asphalt just dumped all over the snow on the sidewalk. Who thought this was a solution to anything?

Terrymon digitiert zu...Category: deutsch
Schwanzmon! Greif dich an!
At work I still listen to a constant stream of German in the background so that maybe I'll pick up more. Lately it's been Digimon. It's a cute show that's easy to understand without having to watch the video.
They're all on youtube so it's very easy to listen to them on my phone. The second video is so freaking cute with the little digimon babies.
While I was listening to it I realized one of the digimon (Gabumon?) had a familiar voice. I realized it was one of Terry's German voices. Then I remembered him saying that when (e:paul) and (e:terry) were in Germany, Terry learned a lot by watching Digimon and Dragonball Z. Weirdly enough there's a character named TK in it.
It makes me wonder what kind of speech habits I pick up what I listen to. When I read German text a lot of phrases get repeated how Ladykracher's characters would say them.

hehe, for a while there I started to learn Polish but the language proved too tough for me... too many zzzzzes. Maybe I should take your example. I also want to learn Spanish, considering I already sing a lot of random stuff in it (even though I don't know squat).

My dad reviewsCategory: writing
My brother Daniel has always been a good writer. A weird one but a good one.
See here
The other day he sent me his new tumblr, "mydadreviews". He writes as a suburban everyman mixed in with his own nerdiness. It reminds me of when we used to sit around the family computer and write down all these ridiculous stories. I specifically remember writing one about Louis Braille leading a double life as a trans-woman, Louise Braille. So bizarre.
Unfortunately I don't think I have a creative writing bone left in my body after wringing them out in college, so I'll have to live vicariously through my brother.
Bubbs, if you read this, sign up for (e:strip) already.

He is such a good writer! I am laughing out loud.
But tumblr is so confusing. It says one note and when you click on it you see that two people have "liked" the post. I mean what the hell does note mean? Doesn't note mean the same thing in tumblrland as the rest of the internets?!
arrgh

Buzzword chipsCategory: food
(e:paul) got these buzzword chips for his birthday. To be fair they really are delicious but despite the name, there is almost no kale in them. Corn chips with a green speck.
They are full of foodie buzzwords though - organic, gluten free, non-GMO, kale and quinoa chips. Sometimes I feel like I could make and sell yuppie food too - it's really a fill in the blank of buzzwords, green packaging and a cute story about finding "your passion for healthy natural foods" on the back.

Paul's birthday finaleCategory: birthday
The last of four days. Every family has gotten to celebrate it now. (e:paul), (e:mike), Maria and I stomped Catchphrase before Paul and I retired. The food was amazing. I want to eat cheesy mushroom artichokes for the rest of my life. Like Paul, I don't think I'll ever be hungry again.
On the way home, we saw this car drunkenly swerving down Elmwood, they couldn't even stay in a lane. I wanted to call them in so bad - when they turned on Hertel we saw a cyclist only about 1000 feet ahead. As someone who's been run off the road on my bike by drivers like that, it drives me fucking insane that anyone would ever do that. I really wish I had followed them.

they didn't like it white, so they made it black?
