No film noir
Category: weather
Our blinds aren't functional enough for the film noir setting (e:matthew) suggested.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Category: holiday
I'm pretty anti-holiday in general but a certain person in my life loves holidays. These were waiting for me at the office this morning. Purple irises are my favorite flower. :-)

Those do look nice.... My problem with the Holiday isn't the holiday itself ... It is the social Norms that go along with it.... Say I buy someone a nice thing from Reeds or where ever then that comes with certain expectations like great sex... Or at the very a nice gift back.... See it is nice to give gifts just to give them but Valentines day isn't about that... It is about you have to give something and what ever you give and how you do it is = the love....... So because of these social norms if someone one isn't expecting something from gives a gift it would feel awkward..... In other words if someone just gets you a heart felt card the relationship is over......... Now a hand made Card of glitter might be different cause that takes a lot of time and effort but.....

Nice Flowers hope the holiday treats you well...

Word of the Day: Subjacent
Category: school
Equivalent to adjacent but underneath (sub). Image Salon is subjacent to our office.

Legal context: "Subjacent support rights are the rights of surface owners to not have their land subside from the activities of the owners of underground rights." Coal mining is a good example: as the miners are removing coal, they have to make sure that the surface doesn't collapse. The relation of the subsurface to the surface is "subjacent".

Good story lucky guys whom knew her :)

Legally that is pretty interesting I heard of things called Mineral rights but never thought about the fact that people above the land would have rights as well....

Oddly enough, I first heard this word when I was in the pre-law program at the University of Detroit (so it must have been my frosh or sophomore year) drinking with one of my "mentors" at a bar called the Roaring Twenties (if memory serves). The usage:

"She does not like missionary men, she prefers them subjacent" quoth the mentor.

"What the F. . . does that mean?" quoth I.

"Look it up" quoth the mentor with a grin.

Pretty shadows
Category: weather
(E:terry) was out at a client's all day while I sat in the office and studied, watching the street traffic and sunshine. We have pretty shadows from all our pretty plants. A client gave us the neat print of a main street painting.

We have those... next sunny afternoon I'll give it a try.

Your office would make a great setting for a film-noir. All you need are shadows from Venetian blinds.
