Fry Pan Excitement, Part I
Category: eating in
I am so excited about this 7+ pound 12 inch multiclad Fry Pan with a dome lid (which means I can not only make bread in it but additionally heft a nice weight around while making bread!).

It's not even healthy to be this excited about some inanimate object but I can't help it. It gets home this Saturday!

PS: It's made from steel by JSW, one of the largest steel producers from India at a plant in Texas Whoever said all jobs are moving from US -> Asia needs to take a look at JSW that did just the opposite.

I did that once and my pancake ended up stuck to the roof. I don't do extreme versions anymore. Besides my stove top is ceramic, I am not sure its wise...

Do you cook things like on TV where you flip the pan and that moves the food......

Day 2: 20x
Reason for stopping: Severe arm exhaustion
Status: I followed the Mayo technique that (e:heidi) linked yesterday for modified push ups. However, my back keeps sagging to the ground and I am not sure I felt my pectoral muscles and abdominal muscles stretch or even work. The only thing that is probably dying is my upper arm muscles, particularly the biceps. And they said it exercises your triceps. I am definitely doing this wrong... I will try again tomorrow to see if I can achieve proper form.

Till then, big OUCH. I hope my arms don't fall off in my sleep today. It feels like it.
tinypliny - 07/20/11 18:10
Thank you. In a few centuries, I might end up competing for the muscle woman crown.
metalpeter - 07/20/11 17:16
I'm not sure.... It was many years ago for me.... But my memory is that triceps it is the resistance so you might not feel it... In any event wish you luck with this....
tinypliny - 07/19/11 22:26
I don't think I am using my whole body weight because most of it is spread over my knees... And (e:metalpeter), I did them slowly today and still couldn't feel my triceps working.. hmm.
metalpeter - 07/19/11 16:37
If memory serves me correctly the triceps get worked by slowly letting your body down ..........
paul - 07/19/11 10:22
Your whole body weight seems like a lot to start with considering how tiny your arms are. I have two ten pound weight you could borrow to start out with.

Neverending Web App lists.
Category: i-tech
I was looking up the sheer number of "distraction-free writing" applications and software that exist today when I came across this
image

What a hoot!

I never realized that there were as many or even more App review sites and listing sites as there are apps themselves... It's amazing how fast they have sprung up everywhere. There are so many of them that you can make a list of the listings of web apps. For eg.

and a million others. The list just goes on.

Hell, I just created one here.

Love this version...

metalpeter - 07/18/11 17:40
That is way to calm it reminds me of Like master piece Theater that I don't watch.... Would be good with right electric guitar though! Ok also reminds me a bit of Bugs Bunny as well... Very Soothing....

Day 1: 17x
Reason for stopping: Arm exhaustion
Status: My arms hurt like crazy. I can't even type this properly. I am wondering if this is a wise idea. OUCH. I am not entirely sure I have the right form. I need to check with my department-mate about this tomorrow.

NB: Hmm... can't tell if this journal format is working.
metalpeter - 07/19/11 16:58
good point I think core means trunk but does it include hips and any of the back is it really just abs???? How far up the sides does it go?
tinypliny - 07/18/11 22:21
They call EVERYTHING core nowadays. I think that term is so overused it has lost it's meaning. I am not even sure what is NOT core anymore.
metalpeter - 07/18/11 18:06
Upper Body strength is so much more then just arms but I'm thinking the push ups are a good place to start........ Shoulder and chest and I assume what they now call "core"......

tinypliny - 07/18/11 11:16
Wow - thanks so much for linking that (e:heidi). Its very useful. I need to improve my form today.
