HealingSo I was hit by a truck while riding my bike last September (at the intersection of Delaware and Allen) and have been pretty much out of touch with everything outside of my apartment and Buff State. I recently began poking my head out of my safe little cave of a home and to my surprise I wonder why I haven't done it sooner. Beyond the fact that I broke my knee in the accident and can't feel most of my shin on the injured leg to this moment, I realize that I should have gotten out more somehow. I guess the embarrassment of getting hit by a car, losing my ability to work (teach dance/yoga), while being forced to sit at home and heal, but mostly the embarrassment is what kinda kept me indoors. But it's nice out now and I feel like taking a walk.
It took me a while to get my spirits back up after that whole ordeal but healing has occurred in more ways than one. I think I may also be ready to teach again! Which would provide so much balance to my everything pretty much. Most of my students have found other places to practice but I think I may be ready to beg for their attendance. I think for starters, my plan in the meantime will be stick to the low impact stuff, yoga, release technique and belly dance so I don't bug my leg too much. I've taken several dance classes and have learned the hard, sore, and painful way that I need more easing to happen before I get entirely 'into it'.
In the mean time I've spent a considerable amount of time working on my Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian, qi balancing, acupressure, Gua Sha, cupping, and moxa techniques so that I can heal a bit faster. I think my students wouldn't mind having bodywork done either so its a plus that I've
spent so much energy focused on those heal practices. Having my BFF Chik back in town definitely helped me to focus on the healing too. And I've made so much 2d work I am seriously impressed with myself. But onward to the next installation of Pho Malpica. Yay.
I am very thankful that the accident happened when it did. I am very thankful to be alive and well and as fortunate as I am. So I guess I'm going to move, perform, and make visual art, teach, work on peoples bodies, amongst other things to keep the fire going.
Today feels like a good day, so I plan on keeping the smiles on...Now if only I could sleep!
