Night two of restaurant week

Tonight (e:terry) and I went to torches on kenmore avenue. the food was
amazing and for once the portions were of reasonable size. We had the
filet minot au poivre with gnochi and a fried calamri appetizer.

Hmm, I didn't like Torches at the Taste, to be honest. Maybe it had to do with the options I chose. I would love to go back to Hutch's, however! I dislike the fact that I didn't make it out during the week, but I had heard some serious horror stories about wait times, etc. - I'd almost rather wait for another time and eat off of the regular menu. Sea Bar had what I thought was an interesting looking deal for $20, same with Amici. There are some faux-pretentious restaurants that I'll never set foot in (I'm talking to you, Merge).

My fiance works at Hutchs, he said this week is so crazy for them! It's a great idea though, a good reason to try places you've never even heard of! There's a whole lot here and I wish there were more kinds of those entertainment books that get people out and about exploring! (supposedly the B-lo area is a GREAT place for scuba diving! I've lived here all my life and never once heard that- just goes to show!)

O'Connell's! that's it. yummmmm. (but not cheap.)
jenks - 09/25/09 17:13
omg, I forgot about torches! yeah I only ate there once but it was great.
another place out there is... shit... what's it called.... on kenmore/colvin... totally unassuming exterior, but amaaaazing food. O'brian's maybe? crap. something like that.

I liked Torches food at the Taste of Buffalo. I'm glad you've shown some pictures, maybe I'll get out there someday. Looks nice.
paul - 09/25/09 01:31
Its one of the nicest restuarants in buffalo on the inside.
james - 09/24/09 23:30
I always assumed that place was a dump from the exterior and parking lot. But that food looks amazing.

Filthy

At least the mask worked this time. I finished the bottom half of one
dormer, yeah!

Delicious lunch of fishes

The one thing I like about my yearly doctors appointment is that it's
just down the street from fuji grill. Check out the presentation
here. I think he key is sitting at the bar.

So the first plate I ordered the surf clam and a bunch of other stuff which came with lemon, the way I like it. I used no soy sauce or wasabi, just lemon on each piece and the natural fish taste.

Then the second plate I ordered just surf clam, which came doubled with two surf clams but was the same price. I wondered if it was because it was a different chef or if I was in some high rollers club after the first plate.

Trees return to main street

It will look so much better near north once these trees fill in. It's
hard to even remember how bad it used to look on this corner.
Remember the delapidated shell of a gas station that was there before
the now closed medina deli?

I wish they would do *something* about the string of shop fronts on Allen on the block between Main and North Pearl - across the street from Cathode Ray. Seriously, someone could be murdered and stashed in there and no one will be any the wiser.

It's restaurant week

Participating retaurants have $20.99 meals that include food, drink an
dessert. Sameer and I ate at Europa, it was delcious. Jaeger
schnitzel, wine and ice cream.

The food is great. The atmosphere is pretty good. But man, the servers there are so terrible.
zobar - 09/23/09 08:44
Oh man that's like my favorite place. When they've got Lambic floats on special, you have no choice but to buy one.
