I was happy to see that the craiglist for buffalo finally went active. I wouldn't worry about it hurting elmwoodstrip though. Out here in Los Angeles, there are thousands of postings everyday...obviously because of the increased poplulation. Over all, it's a great tool for jobs, apartment hunting and free stuff. That is actually my favorite section, the free stuff section. With people moving away at a drop of a hat out here, there are always postings from people giving away all their stuff because they can't haul it back to wherever they are going.
I wouldn't worry at all....elmwoodstrip rules.
On another note, Sqb, I love your photography. I really love seeing pictures from the elmwood area, because that is where I used to live before I moved out here to California. I am finding out more and more that I don't like this area at all (hollywood), and even though there is nothing for my career (film) in buffalo, I think I'm ultimately more happy there, and will most likely re-locate back to the elmwood area. I would love to get a really nice place with a few apartments in it, and rent out the others while I myself live in one.
Even though the economy is hurting, the weather is not the best and the sports teams are hurting, there is something about the elmwood area that just makes one feel welcome.
Peace,
Steve

mjSo last night at work was exciting....the whole entire jackson family came in to celebrate Michael's birthday. I work at a restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. It was quite the night...paparatzi where everywhere....but the Jackson security guards took care of them. I got to talk to Michael and Janet, both were really nice and very down to earth.
I have to say though, that the best part of the night was drinking left over cristal!
Another hollywood moment....
peace,
Steve

sunday's in the sunI just checked my weather program on my p.book and it shows that both Hollywood CA and Buffalo NY have the same weather!...80 and sunny! I think that is the first time that has happeend. I'm still really missing Buffalo, and all the good people that Elmwood has to offer. I really think that sometime soon I will be back in the area. That is, if I don't find a job that I like out here...soon.
Peace,
Steve

cross your fingersSo I just had an interview for a position I think I would really enjoy working. It is a PA/Runner position for a very successful producer. This guy has done Blues Brothers, Tommy Boy, and many more....and has scary movie 4 in pre-production right now. I really think this would be a great opportunity, and am really looking forward to a possible callback :)
I really think that getting this job is going to make me want to stay out here, rather than moving back to buffalo. Recently, I have been feeling very homesick, and wanting to get back to the elmwood, bidwell parkway area. The year that I spent living on potomac, and walking up to elmwood daily was the best year of my life, and it was all because of the community that surrounded me. The festivals, markets, and genuine people in that area is what made it the best. Out here in Hollywood, I have a very small sense of community, and generally dislike the way people are/act out here. But if I get this job I think it will steer me in the right direction. Afterall, film is my passion, and to get into a job where I am working around it daily, I feel my outlook would change for the better.
Peace,
Steve

funkToday was my second day at my new internship that I started this week. It's at a compnay called Benderspink which is a very successful production office. Everyone at the office is cool, for the most part, and inviting. The mentality of people out here though is not very apetizing. People seem to get stressed out over nothing, and make big deals about the littlest things. Oh well, I just roll my eyes, and try to not let it get to me.
I have some interviews coming up...one for an industry job, and one for a restaurant job. I hope I can snag one or the other....preferably the industry job. I would sure like to get paid to do what I like...rather than intern, and work at a restaurant.
I still miss good ol buffalo, if you can believe it. As much as I wanted to leave when I was there, I miss the little things about it. Being able to get anywhere you want in the same amount of time, no matter what day it is, or what the time is. Seeing the seasons change.....even though I have only been out here for a short amount of time, I am sort of depressed to not see any rain, or hear thunder. I know you must think that I'm crazy, seeing as it's 80 and sunny every.single.day out here, but I guess I have just grown accustomed to seeing the clouds, and enjoying the sound of falling rain.
Trying to get out of this funk.
