well, back when MOMA(read Hal foster) had that show on primitive art where Picasso's works were put with tribal mask and so on this brought up a huge argument about the context of art. It turned out that in academia, context is important. Lets think about the context of the situation of Soyeon seeing a picture that sexualized Asian culture on a website where she is one of the few asian members. She must have been hurt by that since she is a closed person when it comes to the body (a fear of being perceived as a fuck toy) but perhaps ajay only knows soyeon from the journal and thought that she was a free spirited wild woman. as far as being an art authority Paul, isn't that what grad school is about for artist? to give them enough authority so that people will trust in them enough to hire them to teach "art" to others? you an art authority yourself, right?
