(e:ajay) who works at yahoo wrote to me suggesting I use yahoo maps instead of the links to google maps that occur when you use the link tag in your journal. At first I was skeptical because I tried out the AJAX based maps and it was throwing some errors or conflicting with some of the sites other javascript. It also had this bug when you scrolled over it, down the journal, it would think you were zooming in and out on the map.
So I went to the yahoo API site, switched to the flash API and its all set. I love it, these are freakin' great. Now we have inline maps right in the journals. I will add some code so you can add other data to your map point.
Here is an example (MAP TO: 24%20LINWOOD%20AVENUE)

Has anyone tried journal monthsCategory: estrip
I wonder if anyone has tried the (list by month) link under the userpics. It breaks down the journal by month. Each dot represents a journal. Orange ones have categories, red ones do not. If you are logged into your journal you can add a category to any journal. Ones you already viewed get a black outline. It is the fastest way to flip through jorunal entries.
Here is an example of what it looks like on (e:uncutsaniflush)'s journal.

i've used it. i find it useful. easier if i have a general idea of when i am looking, rather than a big group of dots and not knowing where to start. when faced with a big group and having to comb through the whole thing, i am likely to give up... so, this feature has come in handy for me.

I use it quite often. I find it very helpful in locating specific journal entries. I can also see which months I had a lot to say, haha

I had added it last night and removed it because it took up too much space on the tiny map and I felt most people would not be zooming as much as they live or are familiar enough with our tiny district to not need to zoom out.
I mean going all the way across the city is only like 5 drags, lol.
I can make the location marker link to a full size external yahoo map with all the feature.
(e:Paul), you can throw in a
map.addWidget(new NavigatorWidget("close"));
so you can get the navigation widget.
That might be handy too...
No kidding ... soon you won't be able to tell one site from another. It won't be long before the entire Internet is white, blue, and green, and every site will claim to be a 'portal.' The lone survivor of the Great Convergence, (e:strip) , will remain a bright-orange oasis that goes 'boioioing.'

.... and Google is becoming a portal, like Yahoo.... ;-)
Nice! I dig how the API actually lets you input, say, an address, rather than limiting you to ICBM coordinates like Google.
But ... I have noticed that Yahoo's graphic design is looking more and more like Google's every day. What's up with that?
