and all that jazzSo last night I went to see Jane Monheit. If you've never heard of her, first of all you're lucky. Second of all, she's a jazz singer who is fairly popular. She has a couple albums and performs in Manhattan a lot. We saw her in Jamestown and we were pretty excited.
I will take this opportunity to invite everyone on Earth to NEVER buy anything that might possibly give her money and NEVER EVER go see her in concert. It was the most disappointing, ridiculous concert I've ever been to. True, she has a nice voice...good singer. But last time I checked, having a pleasant voice didn't make you the greatest person to ever walk the planet. And I truly believe she felt this way.
What bothered me most is that the whole thing was all an act. She was so fake. Everything was fake. During every song there was an opportunity for one of the band members to solo (badly) and she would take this opportunity to shake her hips, dry hump the piano, run her hands through her hair, toss her head back like she was having a you-know-what, make all these faces like the music was really moving her...and it was so obnoxious. I almost felt like it was borderline inappropriate.
And the way she talked to the crowd...oh it was just so phony. Even the band was terrible. They were just competing with each other - no chemistry at all.
It was such a disappointing concert. Never even think about seeing her or recommending her to someone. I feel really bad for the people in the audience who thought it was a great musical experience because it was all so cheesy and fake and DUUUUMMMMBBBB!!!!!

ahh, funny emailsTrue Story...
An elderly Florida lady did her shopping, and upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle. She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her voice, "I have a gun, and I know how to use it! Get out of the car!"
The four men didn't wait for a second invitation. They got out and ran like mad.
The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got into driver's seat. She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition. She tried and tried, and then it dawned on her why.
A few minutes later, she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down. She loaded her bags into the car and drove to the Police station. The sergeant to whom she told the story couldn't stop laughing. He pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a car jacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair, and carrying a large handgun. No charges were filed.
