I'm painting now which is a nice change from windows. One thing I find unsettling is that what if there is lead paint on the railing that I am scrapping and sanding? After about 3 hours scrapping and sanding I got a mask which isn't good for lead, but still probably better than nothing. Hopefully I wont get brain damage. The color is being changed from white to black which is such a great change. Metal railing should never be white. Black is much more enduring.
Happy to hear that a judge has found the government spy program ilegal. It kind of makes me feel like, wow, maybe there is a separation of powers still. I'm not too certain that another judge (they are taking it up the chain) will rule in favor of our civil liberties. If the ruling stays, than I will be shocked. If peoples heads start to roll (impeachments), I would be even more surprised.
Here are some words that I usually find repulsive:

Bombing our way towards peaceThese pictures of the Iraq war are horrifying. Do not look at them until you are fully prepared to look into reality.

We may not see these photos on television, but much of the rest of the world does. Forgive me for this post, but as painful as it is for me, I would rather see them than to not.

We forget that this is not a movie. Real people are suffering.
We need to be reminded that this is not a game of strategy, this is life.

I only looked at a few of them. Yeah war and bombings are brutal. The question is how can you stop people who hate each other from killing each other over the holly land. Religous wars bring up and interesting philsohpy why can't people forget there hate and understand that land is land and that if there religion is the true religion that they will go to heaven and that killing is aganst that. It is to bad that there isn't a budhist preasance there because then maybe all the peace full people in the region could get to gather and teach the true meaning of religion not these teriotry wars. The question arises if killing is wrong how do you stop a killer or armies if you kill them you are just as bad. I will be honest I know it is wrong but I think the entire middle east and that is both arabs and Jews if they where all gased in a non painfull way. It might be good. As long as there are people who can remeber an old beef then peace in never possible. But that brings up another question is it ok to kill to bring peace? I admit I'm not sure. It is the same philshophy in the Hiroshima debate. Droping the bomb was brutal but it saved lives in the end cause it endend the war. I know some one who was in the military around that time and he is verry much against the fact that the bomb was used. I'm not sure what can be done about that region of the world to bring peace, I really don't think anything can be done.

No streaking pleaseAnother (e:libertad) product endorsement
In my professional opinion this is the best thing out there for windows. For $4.29 you can purchase a bottle at Drew's True Value on Delaware Ave across from the Delaware Plaza (Marshalls). They are out until Friday and I can't find it anywhere else. (includes: Target, Wegmans, CVS, Rite Aid, Dollar Stores, Eckerd, Walgreens) Drew's is awesome...screw Homo Depot. They suck. Actually I didn't go see if they had it, but I like Drews, they are so nice there and cheap. I saw the same product listed on HomeTrends, an online catalog, for $4.49.
The bottle will last through all the windows of your house, there will be absolutely no streaks and they do a better job than Windex. Go Streek Free! I did one woman's house today a quaint two bedroom. I didn't even use half the bottle!
But you just don't get one bottle of No Streek for $4.29 you also get two free window cleaning cloths! That's a $19.99 value for absolutely nothing! In fact if you get your ass up out of that chair and act now you will also get a free demonstration video describing the art of window cleaning. You must act now!
So yeah, seriously, you don't need any paper towels or newspapers. All you need is two rags, one sufficiently damp and the other dry for buffing. You will never go back to Windex.
Does anyone know any solution to water deposit stains left on old windows? I have tried Streekfree, Windex, white vinegar, and finally and I will never do this again, CLR (Toxic motherfucker) They do not come out.
- I hope promoting products that we like is acceptable (e:strip) behavior. *

Hmmm. I will have to go on your recommendation, because we really need to clean the windows here.

"homo depot"
hmmm, you are only the second person I've ever known to call it that. I guess I lead a sheltered life.
In my previous life, working for RGIS, I inventoried many Home Depots and from what I've seen and heard in the South, Home Depot isn't an especially gay-friendly workplace.
So I'm a bit confused why anyone would call it "Homo Depot."
But that's just me, maybe I just don't have any gaydar. Maybe I just see people.
I've been called "Daft" Perhaps that's just another sign of my daftness. Go figure.

Nothing comes closer to homeTonight (e:mike) and I decided to go to Kostas for dinner. This was after the usual 45 minutes of back and forth "Well, where do you want to go?" We are tired of our choices, which for me have only gotten worse after not eating meat. I had it in my mind that I would get the vegetable lasagna. Couldn't wait to eat the saucy layered goodness with what I imagined would be fresh crunchy veggies. It was not what I expected at all. I expected red sauce to be baked in, but it was on the side and wasn't what I think constitutes lasagna. Wasn't exactly terrible, but it was disappointing. Mikey ordered the mac n cheese...again. Why? I don't know, because we are both convinced that it is Stouffer's. Then mikey tells me that he has seen Kostas cater at his school and that he saw Stouffer boxes for the vegetable lasagna at the event. You know what? I love Stouffer's mac n cheese. It is sooo good. It's just that if I want to eat some, i'll buy it in the grocery isle and not order it at a restaurant. Do Kostas make anything at the restaurant? They serve the BEST carrot cake, which I found out from the waiter was from Sweet Tooth. Kostas is out.

1. All of Kosta's desserts are from Sweet Tooth.
2. I don't know about Kosta's, but Alice's Kitchen definitely serves Stouffer's mac & cheese.

(e:mike) alerted me to this article, but I didn't find it until just now after talking to Barb. I asked Barb about the fire here and she asks me "How did you know about that?" I told her it was in the Buffalo News search. Anyways this is what she told me about a fire, which is not the same date as this one. She said a fire started in my apartment from a Grad Student's old fashioned toaster. When the bishop had the attic remodeled into an office you could see the charred flooring. The fire that she said was in my apartment happened before 1980 and the arson fire happened in 1995. Who would intentionally set a fire to one of the apartments? If I am lucky I can find out more information about the arson in 1995. I do have a small tie to a fire investigator, but don't know if he can find anything out. I'm going to go to county hall to find the deed information on the house.
update, I posted same journal 2x's cause I thought I lost the original. Here is the extra info I added in the deleted journal
This is getting very interesting indeed. Why has Barb never told us that she used to own this house and why does she continue to care for the house in the absence of the Bishop? Who would start a fire to an apartment and why?
On another note. I want to buy this house now. Somebody should give me the money.
By the way, I also am not suggesting that Barb has tried to burn the house down.

Arson was the cause of kitchen fire at about 10:30 p.m.
Saturday in an occupied home at 200 Lexington Ave., city fire officials said Sunday.
Two separate fires were set in the kitchen, according to fire investigators. Damage was put at $5,000 to the building and $1,000 to its contents. The fire remains under investigation.

my issue with partner (particularly if you're not gay)- is why not just say boyfriend/girlfriend? Say it if you're gay, too, unless you're not sure how it will be received etc- then partner might be 'safer'. But I had a patient a while ago who asked me to talk to his "life partner"- a woman he'd lived with for 20+ years and had kids... ok they're not married so he can't say wife, but i don't know why he doesn't just say 'girlfriend'. Maybe life partner sounds more committed??
I know I'm a little slow on the uptake since this is 2 journals ago, but I wanted to mention something about the "partner" word...
I think I agree with metalpeter - if you're using it while dating someone you have recently met -it's probably not the best usage. However, for a couple who have been together for a long (subjective, I know) period of time, it is really difficult to try and describe your significant other.
(e:chico) and I are together 15 years. We are not married, for one reason or another. Many people we have met assume we are, and while I do try to correct it sometimes (sometimes it is awkward to do so and I do realize there's no way people can *know* it just by looking at us, so I don't want to seem obnoxious, but I don't want to perpetuate a misconception either), other times it's just easier to say husband or wife. Socially, this is what many people have come to expect.
One thing that is kind of funny about the whole "partner" thing is that if you mention you have a partner and that partner is not in the visual field of the person you're speaking with, they automatically assume you're gay. It has happened to me on numerous occasions - one person even said, "Not that there's anything wrong with that..." a la Seinfeld.
So a lot of the time, we just introduce eachother by name instead of by "job title" and name...
- shrug*
just my 2 cents... =)thanks for the info imk. I had a head ache for a while. Like i said i hope i don't get any more brain damage. I have had enough.
metalpeter,
the landes and blackwell accross the street is owned by a money hungry biatcch. Her gas and her products are all overpriced. (she has to fill up her Ford Explorer) Chef Deli closed and they were cheaper and I tried to support them when I could. The gas station was open 24/7 before because she was bound to mobil's rules and regulations. Now that she can do what she wants she closes at 11 and cops don't hang there like they used to even when they are open. And one more thing. I don't expect that everyone agrees with my nasty word list. Lots of people love to use these words...
First of all hope there was no lead paint and if there was I hope you are ok.
In terms of the words I have to disagree about you with some of them. I admit Camel Toe isn't really the best words but I can't think of any thing that isn't grafic to describe it, but I don't mind looking at it. Dirty Cunt if it is used towards some one is preaty offensive, but if it is used a a discription then that is differt. I like the term lover, it is often what the two people are they may not be dating and just make love or have sex or are friends with benifits or something where the term is perfect. Partner is so generic and can mean so many things that when I hear it I don't think of anyone being BFs Or GFs. The term life partner is meant to be used by people who will be togather as if they where married and won't be married, in that sense it is fine. But if the person just means they are dating then it isn't really being used right. It is as I'm sure most if not everyone on this site knows started fot gays who couldn't marry. But i did know a old guy and girl who where life partners and lived togather for years everyone assumed they where married.
I don't understand why they got robbed, what happened to the cops who would always hang out in the lot. That makes me feal real safe I walked right past there going and coming home from the parties I've gone to at PMT's.
I hate "partner" too. "Life partner" even more. I say retard much more than I should. boo.
And no matter how hungry you are or how good the salsa is - don't eat the paint chips!! ;-)
Here are symptoms of adult lead poisoning...
(the greatest danger of lead poisoning is to children, where the lead can build up over time and cause major neurological problems. I guess the danger to adults is less severe, but nevertheless, still possible)
Signs and Symptoms
Mild to Moderate Toxicity - anemia - lethargy - hypertension - abdominal discomfort - vomiting - constipation - fatigue - irritability - headache - muscular exhaustability - tremor - weight loss - male infertility - impotence - risks for pregnant female: low birth weight and small head circumference in newborn
Severe Toxicity - paresis or paralysis - severe abdominal cramps - inhalation toxicity may lead to severe respiratory distress - coma - death
Take a look at this site. :::link::: From the looks of it you should be ok, unless you work in areas were the lead level is severely elevated for an extended amount of time. Make sure you dont eat in the area you work and make sure you wash your hands (and face?)before eating.
