Purple foodCategory: food
It's a rare weekend that I'm actually in town with a day to myself. With J at at golf tournament this morning, and no other pressing commitments for me, I hopped down to the Elmwood Bidwell Market for some treats
I worked at a family-owned (not my family) market/garden center for several summers, and after countless 12 hour days of dealing with produce, produce, and nothing but produce, seeing a dozen tables of vendors hawking veggies and fruits in the summer sun doesn't really excite me.
Still, I wanted some fresh stuff, and I was pleasantly surprised by their selection. I ended up with a bunch of zucchini (for shredding/freezing for muffins), tomatoes (for salads), and purple peppers. Yes, one of the vendors had purple peppers and I think I should have bought more than the 6 I did buy. Look for my recipe for purple slaw later today.

carolinian you should have run with it- you could be rich. Since, sadly, the "rainbow diet" is now a real thing. Eat foods of every color every day and you'll lose weight! I guess veggies are what have color and eating them is good... but still- sounds stupid. And purple haze is pretty good stuff- i haven't seen it around here though. maybe at prespa.

Right around the time the Atkins diet was really popular, a friend and I came up with our own fad diet that would sweep the world: The Purple Diet. This diet would be quite simple--you only eat foods that are purple and avoid everything else.
Instead of eating Apples, red meat, and broccoli, you might substitute eggplant, plums, and drink Purple Haze beer :::link:::

Snakes on a PlaneCategory: potpourri
Have the awesome Samuel L. Jackson leave a voicemail (or send an email) to tell your friends or family to go see Snakes on a Plane:
I love the viral marketing part of this, but even more than that, I love that the producers and marketers are taking such a lead from the Internets in how they promote this film. Make no mistake - this movie will not be winning any Academy Awards. But does it matter?

I was with Morgan Stanley a few years back, they wern't too bad just rubbed me the wrong way. Although they did give me a bunch of winners through the years (JP Penny back when it was in the low 20's.
If i was going with some advisor right now I'd go with a smaller company like Mass Mutual or H&R Block but that is my current financial situation at the moment.

I've tried it all ; dividend investing, momentum trading, market timing, scale trading, you name it!!! I only wish I'd started on this system long years ago...
But no matter. Fortunately, I still have time. This book will give you a proven, safe way to plan for retirement or other financial goals. It's full of common sense, and I highly recommend it if, like me, you're ready to stop losing money and get serious about your financial future.
