Brick city at RIT
Category: college
On the way back from Jabe we stopped at RIT to have dinner with my brother and Masumi in Rochester.

RIT is cool in the nerd school sense but it's one of the ugliest and most suburban campuses I've ever seen. I am glad I went to school in a city at least.

The Indian buffet we went to, Raj Mahal was amazing. I could eat Indian food all day.

Daniel told us about this new app called Yik Yak. It's a location based gossip app for colleges, where you can anonymously post things to people around you. It reminded me of JuicyCampus. It also made me feel old.

The rest of the week
Category: camping
I have never had such a relaxing and fun week. It was hard to leave by the end.

So much book reading, we could have started a book club. I had a terrible German romance novel to read
image
We ate well - Terry cooked a lot of delicious food
image
Some served with toasted buns
image
And I made a lot of quesadillas
image
Amazing water and beautiful views. I've never swam so much in a week. Paul and I swam to almost every island in a little over an hour.
image
And a lot of naps
image
Canoeing and kayaking around the lake - I felt beastly by the end

Fires every night

I think this is an appropriate tag for a Suburban

I can't wait to go back.

Jabe Wildlife Resort
Category: engineering
I think I put my engineering education to its most practical use yet. I built a resort for minnows and other wildlife on the campsite beach.
It was in a beautiful location - spoiled by its first condo.

(e:yesthatcasey) served as landscape architect and (e:terry) was the union contractor.

The foundation were the larger rocks, which I then filled the gaps between with smaller gravel and then sand. It helped stop erosion from wave action on the outside.

Terry helped out by catching some minnows, and I got a newt. But then I felt cruel for keeping them in the dirty water, so I built an exit canal for them.

The sand ended up washing away slowly with the wind, but the rocks held steady. I think I should keep my day job.

Happy birthday Terry
Category: birthday
On Thursday we got to celebrate (e:Terry)'s birthday at the campsite. (e:Paul) and I went into Ticonderoga and searched for a cake. No luck, but we found a delicious cherry pie and were able to gift shop right from our phones.
