people referring to pants as "the pant", or jeans as "this jean" ?(in singulare terms)

this was brought to my attention yesterday by somebody who obviously pays attention while watching What not to Wear, where we are only suppose to wear "the pant".

sometimes you've matured(at least slowly) and moved on while some people just stayed at the same place in their life and are ok with it...not happy nor upset about it
