update
I fixed the pen/trash can icons so they always show up in the right place. I also fixed the userPic and image upload system so that they auto resize whatever image you upload.

City Hall Weddings
IF YOU LOVE TO LOVE, COME TO CITY HALL AND GET MARRIED!

Now is your chance to publicly* affirm your love for:

-small furry companions
-abstract ideas
-Labatt Blue
-lover(s), friend(s), partner(s), husband(s), wife(s),
boss(es), teacher(s)
-The Reverend Julie Perini

All you need is the willingness to make a lifelong**
commitment to this person, animal, thing, or idea. The
Church of Julie Perini will provide you with an official
Church of Julie Perini Affirmation of Love certificate, a
commemorative photo, and a cupcake. Plurality is
encouraged – feel free to wed more than one person,
animal, thing, or idea.

Your participation in this project is essential. Without
you and your love, the Reverend Julie Perini is a
spiritual leader without a purpose; a washed up,
babbling has-been of a preacher, tottering on that fuzzy border between sanity and insanity.

From the desk of the Reverend Perini:

“I’m looking forward to blowing the roof off of City Hall
with you. With the power of your collective love, I am
certain that we can launch the roof of this building into
the stratosphere. See you soon. Peace”

  • Arrangements can also be made to do this privately.
  • The Church of Julie Perini recognizes that these
sentiments you are experiencing may be temporary,
these passions only fleeting. We can divorce you later.
  • If for some reason you wish to marry a person/
animal/thing/idea that is in a remote location, please
make arrangements to teleconference his/her/its
presence to City Hall at the moment of the ceremony.
Presence is essential.

A major update
You may now upload any size gif or jpg image and have it resized perfectly to your journal.

This is a major update as you will no longer need an external image editor to deal with larger than journal width images.

Some mini updates
I changed the link graphic.

I also added a search box right onto the login box. From there you can search through the journals. I am still working on the system but it works pretty well at this point.

I also re-did the sign up process. You no longer have to set your jounral to public. Some peple were seriously having trouble figuring out how to do that. So now, when you write your first journal entry it automatically ebomes public.

Because of that I noticed there were two journals that had been written but unpublicized. Both theerock and sbj were already writing journls. So lets welcome them.

Elmwood Links to e:strip and Google
I am totally thrown for a loop on how the google search engine chooses pages. On yahoo, ask jeeves, lycos, etc we are up in the top ten - often number 1, but on google, where we used to be number 1 for the longest time, we are no longer mentioned. Any ideas? I resubmitted the site today but it seems that once it is submitted it should be searched by the bots repeatedly.

Check it out:
Ask Jeeves -
Yahoo -
Lycos -
Alltheweb -
Google -

Some of the links to our site come from the craziest places. I just got here from a site about a party that a professor I know is having. Does anyone else have a site they could put links to here on. We would greatly appreciate it. The more links, especially local ones, the better.

>>>update - In response to this journal entry, someone sent sent us this information about google searches. Maybe some of you'll will be interested.

Hey Elmwood,
Google has a more intricate ranking system then the others that you mention. One of the places that you most want to be linked to is other sites that come up for the same search. If you want to rank higher for the search term 'elmwood strip' try to submit your site for link exchange on those which already score highly. Also, google examines your outgoing links under the premise that an informational site will link to other informational sites. I notice that although you have a strong community focus, most of the discussions on your site tend to be either personal or else of broad political significance. Try creating some areas on your site that list local retailers and events, and link to other sites that do so. Link to Buffalo News or Artvoice stories when you can, if such a link would fit into the topic that you're already discussing. Hope this helps. -Josh
