Experimental films and videos exploring aspects of being; vulnerable, inarticulate, strange, funny, messy, and out of place.

"The Unprofessionals" consists of videos, drawings, and performances by 20+ artists whose work seems to have been influenced by the movie generation of; Clerks, Clockwatchers, Office Space, and Slackers. This interactive video screening relates to the trials and tribulations of worker weirdos and whiners. The works present a look at all those kids who had to grow up, act normal, go to work, and hide their supposed flaws, and the grown ups who still find ways to be a little uninhibited. The viewer walks in on a "shout out", like by the DJ at your best friend's 15th birthday party, or at those dances in junior high, to all those kids and adults, those amateurs and unprofessionals who are in need of encouragement.

This show is a place where the audiences' vulnerabilities are on their best behavior.

It's THE end of year gathering. Great people, great food, great drinks. Don't miss it! Maybe you'll be forced to eat too many holiday sweets. Maybe you'll be forced to watch films and videos our members made just for the takeover. Whatever dysfunctional holiday conjures-whether it's 'All in the Family' reruns multiplied by watered down eggnog, or viscous parking lot shopping rituals, or snow season horror, send it in, and come to our holiday party! Don't forget to bring extra cash for the amazingly cool stuff available at our 2nd annual Chinese Auction.

Matthew from Falling for Autumn collaborative is making a web interface for a collorabtive VRML project which needs your input. The project takes your input, places it into a database and then turns it into a three dimensional VRML design.

The required input should take you about 15 seconds, so please participate and help out a fellow art student in need of data.

You can see the three dimensioanl translation of your input immediately via the Cortona VRML plugin which works for both PC and MAC. The link to the plugin is on the site. Other VRML browsers may work.

If you experienced any peculiarities trying to login today, worry no more. You can now use the traditional update page with no problems. Somehow a variable named Trisha starting popping up and made everything crazy. If you are reaidng this Trisha, you can feel honored that the variable chose your name, hahahaha.

The quickUpdate, my personal favorite, worked the whole time, allowing you to update you journal as fast as sending an IM. I will be adding photo capability to it shortly.

I am also going to share a little secret with you'll. Sometime in the "near" futureI would like to implement voice journals, kind of like a group answering machine where we can leave voice messages for each other on your journals. This make take a while as I am quite busy with my stupid school projects. But you can expect it to happen sometime in the near future.

Here is a rundown for some of the (e:strip) v1.5 updates. Its not a huge change from v1.4 to v1.5 but there are some great improvements.

1. The (e:strip) logo at the top of the banner is a link back to the elmwood journal/home page.

2. Major Time Saver - There is a new "QuickUpdate" button on the journals directly under the user's pictures. By clicking on it you bring up a pop up box which allows you to quickly add a journal entry without having to access the more complicated update page.

3. The traditional update page, still accessed by the write button at the top, has had many upgrades. You can now update and delete multiple journals at a time. This saves lots of time. I have also moved the uploaded images library to a separate window in order to speed up load time when doing text-only updates.
