hangin in Pittsburgh
I'm currently sitting in the lobby of the Wyndham Garden Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. Well, kind of downtown. The college-y part of town. We are practically in the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon is right down the street. I'm here with a friend of mine who is interested in Carnegie Mellon and is having a voice lesson with one of the professors tomorrow.

Our hotel is not so great. We requested a non-smoking room and the room we got reeked of smoke. So some maid brought in a machine that apparently filitered the room, but once Willy told her he was a singer and didn't want to be in any kind of smoking environment, she got our room switched and now it is much better. p.s. (e:Mike) we are in two separate beds. I think they did initially have us in a King size bed but Willy changed that.

We ate dinner at a place called Joe Mama's. I had spaghetti and a 1/2 lb meatball. It was pretty good. The meatball made all the difference.

Wellllll I guess that's about it. Tomorrow we are going to walk around the University of Pittsburgh. Lots of things are closed on Mondays, let alone the fact that tomorrow is a holiday. Maybe if Willy comes back to audition I can come with him and go to the National Aviary who apparently has a big penguin thing and theres some daily event where you can "meet" an African penguin!!!

I feel a connection with this city because my dad was born here (and so was his dad)...and my parents both went to the University of Pittsburgh, and it's where they met. So I'm drawn to the city but I don't think I would want to go to a school here. But I'm looking forward to taking some pics and getting a couple souvenirs at the gift shop for the school. I really like seeing different college campuses and being in the atmosphere. If only I could figure out which one I want to go to for grad school....

response
So I think there maybe should be a feature that when the person who responds to comments in their own journal, the person that they are responding to gets an email about it. Otherwise, how do people know to check back on the journals that commented on?

Anyway to (e:Jason) , the four hot people I referred to consists of 3 girls ( (e:mk) (e:jill) and (e:diana) )and 1 hot gentlemen, also known as (e:Mike) . We are going to try to get to every Halloween party possible.

That is actually a preaty cooL idea you have about the comments. I used to use a forum like that before where you could say who your comments where to and then you would get an (e:mail). On to the ladies I think I have seen you once in person and Jill a couple times and not sure about diana but of that at least makes 2/3 hot but if you think she is then i'll take your word and say 3/3.

yay wireless internet, boo school rules
I am online at school using wireless internet! Hooray JFK!!!! The only really really annoying part is that I still have the stupid restictions that the students do, so I can't open up Gmail, etc. How annoying. But I love wireless internet and my macbook.

p.s. (e:Paul) and (e:Terry) and (e:Matthew) .. are you having a Halloween party this year?? Because I know of four people who would love to go to one...and by that I mean four very hot people who may or may not be on roller skates....!
paul - 09/27/06 20:07
I believe we are having a halloween party as we have every year since 2003. However, I will be partying it up with twisted in SF on the real halloween and ladycroft is having one on Friday - so I have a feeling ours will end up being on Saturday before I leave. I think they - (e:matthew) and (e:theecarey) - are planning some sort of haunted house theme.
metalpeter - 09/27/06 19:58
I know (e:ladycroft) is having one on the 27th of october check out her journal about it. But I don't know if they will have one also or not.

When you say "hot" do you mean male or female?

Question for Mac users
So yay, I got my Macbook and it is super fun and I love it. I've been talking about wanting one as though it was some unattainable dream and now that I have one I'm not sure what to do with myself. It seems that life may be downhill from here.

Anyway I'm a little confused about this whole wireless Internet thing. We don't have DSL at my house yet, so when the time comes to set that up I can probably figure it out. But if I want to go somewhere that has free wireless internet...like the library or something...can I just like say like 'Turn Airport On' and it will set it up when I open Safari? Is there anything special I need to do?

My computer seems sad not being hooked up to the Internet. I still love it though. I'm using Voice Commands like it's my job. I'm so lazy but it's so fun. I also am obsessed with PhotoBooth. How fun is it to stare at yourself? (after asking that question I immediately thought of... )

I'm even going to post some of the good times with PhotoBooth....

So if someone could let me know about the whole wireless thing that would be great.

First thing to do is go to the network prefs (system prefs, under the apple menu, click the grey globe-y thing). There should be an airport section... click the little box at the bottom that says "show airport in menu bar". Then you get a little menu way over at the right... like a little wedge of radio waves... then you can use that menu to turn it on and off, and join networks. Any available networks should show up. Just pick one. If it asks for a password, try another. Sometimes coffee shops make you enter a special password... I know this is kind of vague, but it really does "just work" most of the time... you can email me if you need more specific help and I can try. Or, Paul can probably help better than I can.
