I remember the first time I used a 35 mm camera. It was my junior year in high school; I remember getting it for Xmas, 2003. Since then, I started shooting like crazy all around the world. I lived in Hong Kong for 3 years, so I took the opportunity to go to Cambodia and take some photographs for my AP studio art. One of the reasons why I pushed myself to take pictures and dream to become a photographer is because I don't have pictures as a young kid. I was adopted from Colombia 7 years ago, and I never go to see any of my childhood photographs. Anyways, that's a different story. When I went to Cambodia, it reminded me so much of my childhood, children walking around the streets working at young age, asking for money to support themselves, living from tourist tips to be able to eat that day, etc. Seeing this situation touched me in a deeper level. Anyways the purpose of going to Cambodia was to build houses for poor people; I believe it is call Habitat for Humanity. We built 2 houses in 4 days, and let me tell you something, it was an experience I will never forget. At the same time I got the opportunity to interact with some of the children, and that's when I took the opportunity to take photographs of them. I believe that photography is a universal way to communicate with people, without knowing their language, and that's exactly what I like to do when I take photographs all around the world.
Here are some of the pictures I took during my adventure to this beautiful country.
Most of the children in my photos, were asking for money, or they were wondering around the streets.

Here is a mother holding his baby, he can't walk becuase he was born with a disease a cuase of land mines.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Cambodia! her smile shows the beauty of the people who live there!

Kids walking around asking for money!

Thesethree little kids were hiding from the camera, they just look so innocent wondering what the hell I was doing taking their photograph.

Imitating me taking their photo! good times!

pretty girl asking for money! how sad...

My Favorite Picture of all! this girl actually came and tryed to communicate, she was very pretty and innocent.

Love it

Look how big those roots are!
