Baby grilled cheese
Category: food
Tinier food is fancier, therefore better, right? (e:paul) and I made these grilled cheeses out of (e:mikes) stale loaf of break. Too bad we only had enough for two. Yum.

Yes, totally. Tiny == Fancy in all languages.

Hunters Creek
Category: hiking
The hike down at Hunter's Creek was awesome and a perfectly warm fall day.
We saw the craziest dead tree that was bored by some bug - not an emerald ash though.

On the way home, we stopped at a fancy Ethiopian restaurant in East Aurora. It was way too expensive for what the food was - and not spicy enough. I'd rather go to Lucy's or Gartur's even if they aren't as polished.

My favorite part of exposed shale beds like this is the laser straight lines the fractures in them make. Engineer's dream I guess.

Franklin Street cobblestones
Category: allentown
During the fall fest, I noticed how many areas of Franklin between Allen and North were showing the cobblestones underneath. I wonder if we could uncover them ala Ardmore Place.

Traffic will slow, it's basically maintenance free, and way more permeable than straight up asphalt. Plus maybe it could make all those parking lots worth enough to build something there.
Of course, cobblestones are terrible for bikes so I think they could make some sort of bike lane with a different material. NYC does granite but I'd even be happy with a strip of asphalt that they left behind.

Just like Celia, he steps to the side for no one, while simultaneously taking measures.

Yesterday we went down to the Allentown fall fest. They had a petting zoo. The baby goat and alpacas were so cute. I thought it was going to be weird going to the childrens section but the animals more than made up for it.

Fracking for charity
Category: buffalo
I don't care about football but it looks like it might be good for something for once. The $1.4 billion Terry Pegula paid to buy the Bills is going to mostly split between Ralph Wilson's charity in Buffalo and Detroit - in comparison, the Oishi foundation is the biggest in Buffalo, and it's endowment is "only" $300 million.

On the other hand, should we feel weird about this? Terry Pegula's money all came from fracking in Pennsylvania which is fucking disgusting. He's choosing to spend it all in Buffalo, and now Ralph Wilson is indirectly spending a bunch more.

I can see it now - a "Burning Tap Water" ward at Children's, pro-fracking cancer research at Roswell. Replanting trees in Buffalo after they've been leveled in the Allegheny.

Pittsburgh and Cleveland had the Carnegies and Rockefellers, I guess we have the Pegulas and we'll all be dirty frackers.
