Trip To The Outer Harbor
Category: biking

We rode out to the outer harbor. So much work is still being done. Seems like it will be amazing when its done.

(e:Terry) and (e:Joe) climbed the old light boat tower, my weak ass arms couldn't do it. Time to excerise again.

Clinton Bailey Market
Category: food
The food is so plentiful and cheap at harvest time. Its unbelievable what you can get there for the price of one single cauliflower at the coop.

I wish I could have taken (e:tinypliny) with me.

(E:terry) also got what looks like amazing roma tomatoes for canning.

That produce does look amazing. In the middle of today's work in office, when I was super stressed out, I actually came to check out the produce picture just to feel happier. How crazy is that.

That's some really beautiful and fresh looking produce. Regarding prices, I guess it's all relative. I just got home after spending a week in London, and now everything in Baltimore seems super cheap to me.

That's a STEAL for $15. Now that I am in pricey++ville everything in Buffalo seems like a dream...

The box of tomatoes is one half bushel. I believe we paid $15 which was $1 more than some other stands but the tomatoes looked far riper than at the other stands. Plus I had really liked everything else I got from that farm the week before.

Okra!!! So fresh looking! How much were the box of tomatoes??
tinypliny - 09/21/14 13:11
WHOA! Clinton Bailey is the best market ever. But it was so so so far away I only went twice when I was in Buffalo. I remember getting stuck in a sketchy spot and feeling pretty uneasy.

I wish I could have gone there with you as well. The vegetables are so beautiful!!! You have to post what you did with them!! :)

Kaydara for Dinner
Category: food

After we went to Buffalo Proper for drinks last night with (e:yestthatcasey) we headed on over to Kaydara to meet (e:Robert) and Mickey for dinner. The owner was having a meltdown because "all these assholes from curtain up decided to to show up without reservations"

At that point in the evening (9PM) and her point in the timeline of that business you think she would be thrilled to just have people show up. Besides who says that to their customers, especially when we were the only people in the restaurant.

Then (e:terry) ordered Vietnamese coffee which I know we had their before and she said they don't have it. Then five minutes later I hear the same woman tell (e:Robert) they do have Vietnamese coffee but they don't make it for guests because its a pain. WTF lady.

Then I ordered the bussel sprouts and she went on this whole tirade about what a pain it is to core then for the dish.

No one wants to hear what trouble they are causing for you while they are paying you to serve them food. You can bitch all you want about it behind their back but not to their face. Either serve people and don't bitch about it to their face or don't serve people and have your staff take care of it.

I wish the best waitress I ever had at Curly's week could teach a class for her.

I really like their food at the same time I really can't stand dealing with her edgy, manic attitude every time we eat there. Most likely, I will continue to not eat there often and with the amount we eat out and the fact that her restuarant is within walking distance of work and home - she will lose out.

If only the food wasn't so tasty I wouldn't go back. The creme brulé is the best I ever had.

Simple - just poach their chef. ;-)

Curtain Up
Category:

We were downtown for curtain up last night to participate on Brian's 30 hour VJ session. I was so tired by the end I fell asleep on the floor. Thank god I brought stinky the bear because he made a great pillow.

When I saw the discarded chicken wing below, I thought you know you are in Buffalo when you find chicken wings on the ground.
