Unhording Life - One Dumpster At A Time
Category: 24 linwood
We emptied of the garage completely today and threw everything in a dumpster. It was so moldy and disgusting. We are planning on replacing the roof sometime this summer and then powerwashing the shit out of it and kills painting all the stone surfaces.

This will someday be the launching ground for a kitchen remodel.

(E:terry) and (e:Joe) want to build a green roof. Let's see how that goes.

How did this make it though gmail spam filters. Maybe they don't check in languages other than English?

mike - 04/15/14 20:00
weird. I got that same email today!
metalpeter - 04/13/14 13:50
I have no idea you all know more about this type of thing then I ... But I'm guessing since it saw Visco it thought it was written to you personally ?
tinypliny - 04/12/14 11:57
report it as spam. The filters have a good learning algorithm. Maybe training data is sparse in your particular case.

Last Night In Raleigh
Category: adventure
I had the craziest night in Raleigh last night. The day started with working till 4:30 am and then getting up at 6:30 am for a course that went till 4pm.

Afterwards, I went home and took a nap. I had pretty much decided to not go out but I was so hungry, so I decided to go look by the mall for food. I found everything was closing but saw a bus. The bus was on break so it had no sign on it but I figured what the heck, anything has to be better than where I am and I could always taxi back. I get on and I'm literally the only white person on a totally full bus. I do t think that has ever happend before.

Eventually, the bus driver shows up and the sign changes to downtown. I get excited to finally see it and the trip only cost $2.

When we finally get downtown I am little sketched out by where I got out. However, using my phone I found an Asian place called Five Star open till midnight. Walking there seemed even more sketchy but a lot of it was just caused by the he construction for the new citrix headquarters.

Inside the restaurant was great and so was the service. They even had gluten free options. I got shrimp in lobster sauce with veggies and drank some wine. I chatted with (e:joe) and (e:robert) a bit and noticed my battery was dying. Because I was starving and the wine came first I got a but tipsy. Then came glass two. By the time I left I was pretty drunk and found out the buses stopped running and the phone was just about dead so I took some Screenshots of some maps and put it in airplane mode.

Then I hit up the gay bars, well one gay bar called flex. The people were super nice and the bar tender, who was an mma fighter was real cute. Had a few more drinks talking with him and then came their drag show. It was almost sad. It's a pretty big club and their couldn't have been more than 10 people inside. Instead of performing on stage and people bringing money to them, they pretty much went around and begged for dollars. The one also just dressed like a fancy dressed guy. It was time for me to go, so I decided to stumble run home.

Looking at the map, the train tracks seemed like a shortcut. I didn't consider the trains would be all on then or that the sides were mostly lined in barb wire fences where they abutted businesses.

I stumble on for miles, pretty much in the wrong direction, no phone. Eventually I decided to cross the the trains or face like a 3 hour detour walk around the tracks. Some of the trains were moving but slowly. As I hopped between the one, it started to go while I was between the cars on the train like a freaking hobo. Luckily it stopped before I ended up real far away and I jumped off into some bushes and thicket where I scratched my arm but successfully got across.

As if that wasn't enough I could see on the map that the hotel which was like a 2 hr walk away (this is at 2am) was closer if I just went down the highway. Obviously, pedestrians aren't supposed to do that but otherwise it was a much greater distance and I figured I just hopped a moving train so how much worse could it be.

Partway in I saw a taxi and started waving like a mad man. He drove away. Eventually there was not even shoulder space so I decided I needed to get off at an exit. Believe it or not, there was the taxi guy who had been looking for me.

I got a ride back to the hotel but instead of getting dropped off there I asked to go to the gas station so I could buy a bottle of water. I pay him, he leaves, I go in. There is nobody inside. No worker, nobody.

I wait 10 minutes. Still no one I wanted to just put down a few bucks and go but I only had $20s.

Other customers come in and ask what is going on. I explained the guy disappeared and I had been waiting around. I think they think I killed him or that they are on a prank video show.

One woman started searching the coolers, another the bathroom, then the employees only area. Still no one.

I eventually decide I am just going to steal the water. I am pretty sure other people were stealing at this point too. So I just walk out with it and as I get up the street a taxi pulls up with the gas station employee in it asking if I stole the water. I was like where the fuck were you for which he had no answer. I ended up paying him for the $2 water and leaving. I kind of want to call the store and report the situation because it's so weird but at the same time, I did just steal the water so I let it go.

Then I went finally went to bed.

Effff that gas station, I would've taken everything I wanted for free.... The whole point of being a cashier is to stand there and cash people out.

I love the randomness of this story ad what happens when you are without your phone. Glad ur safe boo.
joe - 04/11/14 12:42
You're so crazy for being between moving trains. So dangerous. I'm glad you survived. But I guess who am I kidding, if we were there with you we probably all would have done it.

Too bad they didn't put better candy in the urinal. I think the old people hard candy is grosser than the fact that it is in a urinal.
metalpeter - 04/10/14 23:15
It sounds crazy wonder what the people driving the Trains thought ? I also can't believe you to get down there just like hoped on a bus you didn't know where it was going.... I wonder if when in another city if there is a sense of feeling safe or safer since you don't know about "The bad Areas " it sounds like the entire thing was something from some adventure movie of some kind....
paul - 04/10/14 19:41
The tracks part was crazier. It was so scary once I started and couldn't get out. It would be like trying to walk downtown starting in riverside and finding the whole thing had barb wire and fences around it once you were like a mile in. At first I was like, "oh no, what if someone tries to rob me." As I had a ton of cash and jewelry and my phone. Then I was like oh my god even worse, "I am like a rape treasure chest."

Luckily, there were no bad guys because seriously no one else goes there besides idiots.
metalpeter - 04/10/14 19:04
That is So crazy and that is just the store part not to mention walking the Tracks .....................
iriesara - 04/10/14 17:24
Sigh. I miss you, little brother, and our adventures, of which your post totally reminded me.

Last Day In North Carolina
Category: hiking

For $40 I rented a car today because the taxi was like $30 and I didn't want to carry my suitcase and computers around all day.

After the obligatory drive to wholefoods for a trough I went hiking at Carl Alwin Schenck Memorial Forest which kind of sucked but at least it was warm out.

It's basically a big project for training forresty skills.

After I headed out to Chapel Hill which reminds me of a bigger, nicer Ithaca Still way too many people. It was made Ning to try and find parking. I could never live there. Even back in raleigh I had to wait for someone to leave in order to get a spot at wholefoods.

The Chapel Hill coop is exactly what I would like to see our coop become.

I then handled some emergency work calls and headed closer to the airport where I found Crabtree Country Park. It's much nicer and more relaxing that the other one.
