Twisted's Journal from 10/2007

weird week, in more ways than I can say here.

First, some scenes from a housewarming party:

Kitchen sink. Might as well make it scenic, unless you're oh so cynic?

My new neighbor/building-mate helped me hang my murals at 7am the day of the party.

Proof I can still out-drink someone!

The next day, my boss at Autodesk left the company abruptly. Hopefully they'll want to keep me around for a while longer, so I can make enough $ to pay my property taxes?

ps -- I wish I could show you this fabulous color of Cons I want to buy, but they are hard to pin down. I still have $40 credit to spend. No time like the present . . .

With the house/move done and a job secured (at least until monday when we meet with the interim boss), my thoughts naturally turned to craigslist. A recent setback in that arena really stung, so it's time to pick myself up and get back in the straddle, I mean, saddle.

I'm not going to itemize the boring details, but as usual I run the respondents through my home-grown background check, including searching for the local-part of their email addresses. Sometimes I'll find a discussion board they've posted to, but this time I found something new and interesting. Tell me what you think.

I guess the thing that threw me was his profile on lesbianpersonals.com (although it probably shouldn't). At least he's got the bases covered!

The good news is, craigslistguy#1 came through with an extra ticket to Interpol last night. And since he books shows for a similar venue, he can get comp tickets for just about anything. woo hoo! Good person to know. He was nice too, easy to talk to. I think we'll go out again, although I'm already booked for all the shows he's got tickets for, and I'm going to see Jesus & Mary Chain on Saturday while he's going on Friday. But we've been to a lot of the same shows the past year so we're bound to run into each other. Or he might even call me, stranger things have happened.

As for my recent blow, we're still on "just friend"ly terms. [hey, that's supposed to be my line! ;-) ] After seeing New Pornographers with him, he came to TMBGs with me. He emails me about once a week while he's stuck in Seattle on a long-term project for Microsoft. He even brought his adorable Australian accent to my housewarming party last week. (Sorry -- didn't get any pictures, except for the one of my ex-bf's brother's love child passed out on the bed.)

Anyway, if this round doesn't pan out, I just might have to post my own ad. I've been honing it in my head, but I'm not sure I want to open that Pandora's inbox . . .

p.s. -- anybody registered for the above sites want to check out #2 for me?

10/27/07 00:00 - 56ºF - ID#41827Scenes from an art de-installation
My life has been chock-full of coincidences lately. When I started working downtown, I decided to have lunch with Mark's Burning Man sculptures. Took a pic while I was at it.

A few weeks later (looks like they're going to keep me, btw), I felt compelled to bring the camera to work again. That day they brought in a crane and a flatbed trailer to haul the sculptures away. I shot a few pics again. It was sad.

I love commuting by bike. That phrase cannot even come close to describing the experience . . . Maybe I'll try to describe it later.
