Paul's Journal from 11/2009

11/06/09 00:15 - 34.ºF - ID#50229 pmoblThe brown vase from globe market

I finally bought this vase. I saw it like a year ago at Globe Market
for like $30. Everytime I eat there I say I am going to buy it and
this time it was down to $13 and I couldn't resist. I am just sad
that it was made in vietnam and not by some local artisan. I
scratched that sticker right the fuck off as soon as I got it in the
car, call me pretentious - I don't care.

P.S. Their crab cakes are really yummy.

We went for a walk with our block club and some building inspectors
the other day to review properties with violations, most if which were
major or structural. The one that surprised me the most was that this
person had outdoor carpeting in there backyard instead of grass.
Apparently, that was a major issue for some people.

We went to the old fort niagara today. The musket demonstration was
pretty awesome. I can't imagine what it was like to live there. The
cook said the soldiers would eat pork that came in a barrel of salt
water and was packed 2-3 years prior. I would just eat fish instead
considering there are on a giant fish filled lake. I bet they did too.

Doesn't it look like the guy in the painting has a boner?

How one earth did this make it through the app store when so many other things are rejected.

A Spanish translation of Mein Kampf has been launched at the App Store, observers note. Written in the 1920s by Adolf Hitler, the book is both an autobiography and a charter of the fascist, anti-Semitic policies that would come to guide the Third Reich. No other version of the book is available as a standalone app, and its icon is the Nazi Party emblem, complete with swastika.link

Personally, I searched for it and couldn't find it. They must have pulled it already which really makes me question their acceptance policy.

So we bought this Bejamin More house paint for the exterior of the house at Schuele paint on main street. The paint seemed great, it's the color we wanted and it coats great. Then when we ran out and went back for more, they had run out of the Benjamin Moore base and told us they had Philadelphia brAnd base instead, which according to the worker was the same and would match exactly.

In the middle of the afternoon yesterday I had a hunch it was not going to match and brought it back. The guy reassured me when dry they would be identical. I waited 24 hours and it was clear which part was painted with the philiadelphia base paint.

So I brought them back and they replaced those cans with the bejamin Moore paint at their other location. e:Terry picked it up. It applies so much better and matches the original paint in color and finish exactly.

The real question is why did they try so hard to convince me the shittier paint would be the same when they could have just sent me to their other location the whole time. Especially when I brought it back the first time. I am so angry because the whole paint/repaint, use shittier paint, pickup new paint on niagara falls blvd wasted so much time.
