This week's weight: 173

I've really become serious about this since last Friday. I don't know what did it, but the OCD finally kicked in!

I know each week it's been either 173 or 174 but I'm going to pull a Joe Namath here and guarantee that I will be 172 or less next Tuesday.

Tonight I'm going to my first Sabres game in like 4 years. A co-worker had an extra ticket and offered it to me. Nice!

Here's hoping they come through for me and follow last night's win over Philadelphia with a win over Washington.

Spitzer Linked To Prostitution, Likely To Resign

Huh.

Gov. Eliot Spitzer has told senior advisers that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, The New York Times reported Monday, citing an anonymous top administration official.

And the irony is...

His cases as state attorney general included a few criminal prosecutions of prostitution rings and into tourism involving prostitutes.

In 2004, he was part of an investigation of an escort service in New York City that resulted in the arrest of 18 people on charges of promoting prostitution and related charges.

Maybe it's like one of those cases where the narc ends up a junkie, or something.

Tonight I took our oldest out on a date. I used to do it more often but over the past year or so I've allowed the busy-ness of my life to get in the way. We were way overdue for a little one-on-one time where I could spoil her a bit.

We went to our normal spot, the "B Mall" as she's always called it, and did our normal ritual (merry-go-round, hot pretzel bites, pink frosted cookies at the Coffee Beanery, Disney Store, etc).

So often I feel like the majority of time I spend with her is time spent telling her "no" or "stop" (she is 4 after all). So it felt good tonight to say "yes" to everything she wanted to do. Thankfully she didn't request any outrageous purchases while we were at the Disney Store, so I was able to bat a thousand when it came to wish-granting.

Argh, if only this Blackberry had a camera it would be perfect.

I told y'all I'd do better this week!

Creepy gnome terrorizes town

Time flies.

Today marks the seven-year anniversary of me working here at the Roz. I remember getting laid off from ClientLogic about a month earlier (on Valentine's Day, no less) and actually being excited because it now meant I could pursue the pipedream I was afraid to follow for fear of the unknown. Kind of like the decision was made for me.

It's crazy to think about how seven years prior to that I was barely out of high school.

I love this job. Albeit I do a lot less actual web development now and a lot more management and paper-pushing than I did back then, but it's still great. I work with some amazing people and have never dreaded coming in. Not one day.

A lot has changed, when I was hired I was the first web developer on staff and was viewed as more of a toy than anything else. Now I'm heading up a team of geniuses (the team that is, not me) who are crafting awesome, enterprise-level applications on what can be considered a shoe-string budget.

Ah well, only twenty-three more years to go and I'm done, Lord willing.

So our youngest decided to wake up and stroll into our room an hour and a half ago. She then followed that up with an hour-long on again/off again shouting and screaming fest after I put her back in her bed.

She fell asleep (I'm guessing as there's been a long lull now) about a half hour ago.

I wish I could do the same. I'm now laying here unable to get back to sleep. In addition to that I'm freaking ravenous and can't wait for morning to come so I can knock back breakfast.

Tomorrow (today, that is) is going to suck.

I would have lost more than just one pound if this weekend hadn't included a birthday party, followed by St. Patrick's Day. But hey, could have been worse -- I could have gained!
