My phone rings at 8:30 this morning and it's my mom asking if I can come by today and install a new hard drive in her machine at work (she works for a small family practice) since Dell verified that her previous one was shot.

So naturally I agree to, thinking it's only a quick 10 minute or so job. Then as I'm walking up to the office this morning I suddenly realize that I'm also going to have to install Windows and any other programs she needs.

I still would have said yes regardless, it's not like I resent having to do this or anything (in fact I'm kind of enjoying just sitting here watching progress bars in the midst of all this peace and quiet).

The more I think about it, this is great. I'm not exactly an "up and at 'em" kind of fellow when it comes to Saturday mornings so this is right up my alley I guess.

Windows is done so it's time for me to go and start installing the myriad apps she needs now...

Going to bed just now reminded me of how I woke up this morning.

Each night I go to sleep with my iPod earphones in. I've become so dependent on listening to music at bedtime that it's pretty pathetic.

Over the past two and a half years my wife has mentioned several times how pissed she's going to be if she wakes up next to me strangled to death by the earphones. "Pshaw," I always tell her. "Stop being so melodramatic," I say. "Ain't nothing like that gonna happen, you crazy woman."

So I wake up this morning and go to get out of bed and realize these things are freaking looped about my neck -- twice! One more roll and I might have woken up blue. I must have been tossing and turning a lot last night. Don't tell her this though. It'll just be our secret, e:strip.

Or maybe she... Nah, that's not her style.

Anyway, goodnight. First song on tonight's playlist is "New Soul" from the MacBook Air commercial.

More than Christmas, more than my birthday, Super Bowl Sunday is my favorite day of the year. It's like a holiday to me.

Here's hoping the Evil Empire goes 18-1!

Apparently I'm not above going to Boston.com and trolling their Patriots message boards with "nyah nyah" postings all over the place. Too bad, I thought I was better than that. Oh well, apparently many others out here on the interweb had the same idea.

On a related note, I submit to you what may in fact be the best picture taken in the history of professional sports:

Seeing Bruschi and friends in their postgame interviews was comedy gold. Beautiful.

I voted for Ron Paul this morning right before heading to the airport for my one-day trip to Philadelphia (more on that in a later post).

Now I can end my four month tenure as a registered Repbulican and go back to being an Independent (and stop feeling so dirty).

That's not a dig on Republicans per se, but any political party in general.

So they (they being US Airways) begin the boarding process and since the flight is apparently going to be a puddle jumper (oh great) they have us walk out across the tarmac(?) to this little plane and when we get there (there was about 10 of us in the "zone") the baggage/technical guy starts getting bent because "we never supposed to be boarding yet." So we walk back across the tarmac, back up the stairs and we begin filing out of the door we just left through. I've never felt more like cattle in my life.

Everyone is muddling around and then someone asks "maybe we should be given our boarding passes back?" and the employee at the door says "sure that's probably a good idea."

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

This seems like an organization that really has its act together.

I feel so safe, calm, and relaxed right now. Yeah.

Sorry for the flurry of posts but I forget the current novel I'm reading (ugh) and am bored out of my gourd now that I've sapped my laptop's battery VPN'ing into work.

Hope everyone's Tuesday is super. Except Hillary's that is...

So I'm in downtown Philadelphia, leaving Jim's Subs on 4th and South which supposedly has the best Philly Cheesesteak around (at least according to multiple interweb sources) and since it's Mardi Gras there's a lot of hullabaloo going on. I walk past this big pickup truck and in my peripheral vision I see there's these two people in the back just sitting there.

Suddenly one of them says to me, "hey want a free Monster?" And I look over and notice there's a banner on the side of the truck with the Monster logo. So I say "got any blue ones?" and she says yeah and gives me one.

That's like a free $2, not to mention that Blue Monsters are one my top favorite beverages.

I like Philadelphia so far.

According to CNN, Paul didn't even get 1 vote in West Virginia. As a Ron Paul fanboy, even I find humor in that, lol.
