  • tinypliny 22:31 I can then kid the people into thinking that my crumpled tees and shirts are actually formalwear
  • tinypliny 22:30 Wearing a Blazer seems to make even the drabest of hobo clothes formal - so I have decided that I want more blazers

06/05/07 17:18 - 54ºF - ID#39535Category: religionAgnosticism
I've been pondering agnosticism lately, and it's something that I've never really understood. I can see how someone would believe in God by faith or whatever, or how someone can look around and fail to see the need for God as some kind of underlying explanation of the world around us, but the middle ground on this topic is pretty shaky. I just can't relate to it at all.

There was a book I read last week, the Life of Pi, which came out a few years ago and was supposedly 'A story to make you believe in God', well I of course remain disenchanted with the concept. But the protagonist's attitude towards agnostics were similar to my own, which was a bit startling. He didn't mind atheists in the least, but a life of agnosticism seemed to him to be troubling.

So - is agnosticism just a default sort of mushy thing or can agnosticism be a deeply held position, defensible in its own right? Despite my perhaps overly harsh words, I am honestly asking and have an open mind.

Allentown was nice this year... not as brutally hot and crowded as usual but maybe it was just that we started earlier.

I've been working on a flash card site for learning foreign languages, and I'm really looking forward to making it work with the iPhone. It's the perfect size and seems like a good excuse to try to get e:james let me buy one big_grin (yeah right)

OK and now I spent like 4 hours wondering why my apache rewrite rules were behaving so erratically and of course it was because i forgot to set ''RewriteEngine on'' but strangely some of the rules still were working just fine.

All of the stuff I know about Apache I have learned painfully. It's just that sort of a beast.

06/15/07 08:11 - 61ºF - ID#39667Category: lifePainful Internet
At our new place we are sharing the internet connection of the guys downstairs, but the wireless reception is completely painful. It's totally out for about 5 minutes out of every hour, and the rest of the time is really slow - like dialup slow, plus really long latencies. I just ordered a wireless bridge and am praying that that will be my salvation. If not I'll have to buy them a giant antenna to stick on their access point.

Also speaking of utilities, I've been cursing my morning showers because the water hasn't been very hot, but it turned out e:james had just turned the thermostat on the water heater way down. At least that is an easy fix big_grin
