Giuliani Moves Closer To Presidential Run:

Hmm. As far as his politics are concerned, he is without question closer to me than any other politician I can think of. The problem is that supporting him opens me up to hypocrisy because of his, ahem, lack of fidelity and discretion in the past.

Clearly something has to give. I am not ready to simply acknowledge that it is acceptable for people, even the alleged best and brightest of us, to take an oath of fidelity and trust, then turn around and act like it doesn't matter.

To me the ability to cheat exhibits a number of serious character flaws, some of them applicable to how you view your profession. I don't think this applies in all cases, nonetheless it is worrisome when you're talking about someone in the filthiest profession we've invented, and also in the position of potentially leading our nation.

No, I don't think I can give that up because I don't think Rudy G, nor any politician, is worth giving up my principles for. As much as I would like to see someone who thinks like me in office, I don't think I can in good faith support Giuliani.

Looks like it's gonna have to be McCain by default.

McCain by default, that's too bad. None of the candidates this time around or the office holders should ever be mistaken for boy scouts. The search for a perfect mix for conviction and policy is a frustrating one. Trust me, I've been looking longer. Seek out the guy who comes closest to your political outlook and that is the horse you run with. I write this out of respect for McCain, who strikes me as a good guy but who's done a respectable job of late confusing me where he stands on stuff.

Infeldilty is not a moral issue for me. infelidtiy is about how you have a personal relationship with another person. I'm not saying that cheating is ok. But what happens in a lot of relationships is that there is a problem somewhare (sometimes in bed and sometimes not) that isn't bad enough to end things but can't really be fixed or dosn't want to be fixed. So the cheater gets what they can't get in there relationship with someone else. Sometimes like in Hilaries case the partner excepts and even knows of the cheating. In some extreme cases they even encourage it with someone they know. I have heard from more then one person that thinks Hirlary is a Lesbian I'm not saying it is true but it sure would explain a lot. With all the crimes and dirty deeds that go into politics if the worst then they did was have an affair then they are still a lot better then a lot of other politicans.

I admit I don't know much about Rudy. But the thing that I think is interesting is that he seems to Really care about NYC. After 9/11 he had allready lost the ellection and it looked like he was done with the city. He could have mailed it in and not done anything but he didn't. Again he could have been faking it and doing it just as a photo op but he seemed sincere. If 9/11 would have happend before the ellections he would be Mayor for life. That is assuming he didn't want to go higher into politics.

Actually Ms. Twisted when you mentioned that I chuckled - at the time President Clinton got caught over the Monica thing, Hillary acted surprised. Considering that the guy has a reputation for being a philanderer and everybody on earth knew it, how could Hillary not have? Personally I think she put up with a lot of shit, willingly or unwillingly, so whatever Bill may or may not have agreed to, she probably deserves twice as much. Still, potentially accepting that your husband is a bastard in exchange for political favors TBA later... that is creepy.

JFK and MLK were sons of bitches in private as well, yep. I'd argue that MLK was far more influential and unfortunately due to his tragic death JFK's infamy is more related to pop culture than his ability as a politician. Still, nobody has their noses clean. I agree that one shouldn't so hastily withhold support because of a moral objection - if you can't support Candidate A then there are others, and some of those others likely have done some unsavory things to get where they are. Its cynical to think that way but its also truthful. Nobody is perfect, especially politicians. Even the Romans, probably the most unsavory of all, had some emperors that were bastards in private but were utterly brilliant administrators and politicians.

I'm not endorsing these or any other would-be candidates. I'm just saying -- the pool of willing and capable candidates is already so small. I would like to see every vote count.

To elaborate on my original point. What if "infidelity" was strictly between the parties involved? I realize public figures have given up their right to privacy, and therefore open themselves up to be judged. You have every right (and opportunity) to judge a candidate and cast your vote accordingly. But speaking of Bill, what if he and Hilary happened to have an understanding? and while he was busy pursuing Monica's XXX-L thong, Hilary was busy bitch-slapping Dick Cheney's chapped ass to kingdom come?

Ok, maybe that's a stretch. ;-) My point is, what you might see in black and white could be seen in many shades of gray for those involved. Case in point: San Fran's Top Man. I personally have no idea what choices I might make if I happened to be gorgeous, rich, and in a position of power. But I'd sure as hell like to find out, haha.

Finally, thanks to e:Zobar I was able to go to O's web site and see what they have to offer. The missus wants to get some grub from there for Valentine's Day. So I roll over to my HSBC Web Banking to ensure I have the funds.

Wait for it.....wait for it.... -32.07

Fuck. How am I supposed to get dinner with negative money? Not to mention this will become -65.07 once they inevitably fee my ass. Trip to TO with girlfriend, new monitor, V-Day gift, parking ticket fees, cell phone bill, and of course normal indulgences = running out of cash.

This is very depressing. I'm not going to sit here and complain about the Government being responsible for my financial status, which would of course be bullshit, as it always is. I just wish I would have planned the month a little better. I probably could have put off paying the parking tickets, which in retrospect would have been worth it because I would be able to get dinner AND be able to do my fucking laundry.

Now I have to figure it out. Do I take out a C-Note from my already negative bank account, and accrue yet another 33 dollar fee so I can do my laundry and have money for dinner tomorrow, plus whatever else I might do between now and the 15th? I don't see much of a choice. I can't go to the missus and say, sorry, you're going to have to pick up dinner. Even though I think gender roles are complete nonsense when it comes to relationships nowadays you still feel something is very wrong if you don't come through on V-Day.

At least I have $2 in my pocket, which will get me a Sparks.

Oh, one more thing, (e:Libertad). You know me, being all-out hostile towards the diggers. She's actually UBER COOL when it comes to this stuff. She'll take what I offer but makes no demands whatsoever.

After some reflection I've learned that when I hate diggers I also hate the portion of myself that places such an importance on the money aspect of things. I'm projecting as much as anything else, truthful or not. I measure my worth in relationships with dollars as much as anyone. That needs some work.

(e:Libertad) you make an excellent point. You may also know that recently Banks have been reprimanded and made to take action regarding predatory rates and fees. I see a valid role of Government as you see it in this case, to judge the $33 (per transaction!) fee. Perhaps a more fair rule would be to base it on the amount of each transaction.

For that matter, the $35 parking tickets are just awful, and I've ranted enough about it so I won't take it that far today. Everyone knows what's up anyway.

(e:Kookcity2000) thanks for the offer but I'll be alright in a day or so when I get paid. That's the real bitch of it, the timing of this. I think in the end I can't do anything about the fee so if I want dinner I'll have to eat the fee. HOPEFULLY the deposit arrives a day early as it happens on occasion. Then it'll be gravy. It's just a tough deal, and we all go through them.

banks are rather lax about overdrafts, as long as they can charge super steep fees. In that way they act like credit cards with crazy rates.

When I had a month between jobs last year, I didn't change my spending habits (not stubborn, just stupid) and I was overdrawin' just to get a full tank of gas to get to work.

Hit me back on the first and I'll bum you some dough.

You could blame the government for the bank being allowed to charge outrageous fees. Listen, what you should do is just be yourself and show your affection in the only way you can. $$ can buy you a wife, but it can not buy you a lover. Valentine's day isn't about going out to eat. If she couldn't understand that than maybe she isn't a good match for you. That being said, I think you will find a creative way to make it special.

I could be wrong but I doubt we will get as much snow as they say we will. Reason is that when there are those huge bands of snow that travel from so far away they often either miss buffalo or don't drop that much but we shall see. Wow I didn't know you could go into the minusus at HSBC. I just hope you have overdraft protection and that no checks bounce. I wish I had some advice for ya on what to do. Maybe have a home cooked and romantic meal and a movie she likes, wish I was more help.
