Here was our house last spring before the painting and the new roof...1109/324811450102686541329446963303628351076903N1116.jpg

and here it is after this fall...

The above picture doesn't really do it justice. The lighting was dark when i took it this morning so the details don't show up. It looks much nicer in person, i think. here are some close ups...

I'm so happy with the way it's turning out! I'm also happy I live with Paul and Terry who are fearless painters. If i had to paint the whole house myself it would only be done from the ground to about 7 feet up. I cant do heights.

The neighbors across the street from us are also painting their house and the house a few down from us is installing a new slate roof (which looks amazing!) Our little block of Linwood Avenue is really shaping up!...so take that you fancy 400 block! wink

okay, i'll take a pause from posting house pics.

11/13/09 11:32 - 44.ºF - ID#50294Category: housesPainting the House on Linwood
Last week we decided to start painting the front of the house because the weather looked so good. e:Terry had the week off from work and e:Paul took some time off too. In the beginning I didn't think much would get done but because of their endless painting, almost the whole front is done. I think it looks so much better than the old color scheme of light blue and magenta. These new colors are closer to what the original 1890's palete was, so that makes me happy and Paul put up orange which is his favorite color. So now a few second coats and some detail work and we can call it a wrap untill the spring.

Here are some shots of the house. I took these with my iPhone, so the quality isn't great and the colors look a little off. Also, we aren't done with the major detailing on the front porch or the dormers (we'll need to rent a cherry picker to do that high up) but this is what we've got so far...please feel free to leave comments or suggestions.

11/05/09 13:35 - 42.ºF - ID#50224Re Tree WNY
Re-Tree WNY is at it again planting another 1,700 street trees by the all-volunteer group of people who were trained and assembled by Re-Tree WNY and includes the efforts of 48 City of Buffalo block clubs. The Linwood assosciation worked with them last spring to put in about 50 trees in my district, and it's my opinion that they are one of the best organizations currently in wny.

Planting in all areas will be at 9AM on Saturday. The Tonawanda planting will be around the Parker Boulevard area and is coordinated with Bradley Rowles, Superintendent of Highways with the Town of Tonawanda and the Buffalo planting is a coordinated effort between Councilman David Rivera, The Green Fund, Grassroots Gardens, PUSH, and the Grant/Ferry Neighborhood Association.

Anyone who still wishes to volunteer is being directed to any of the three major plantings: gather at the Re-Tree WNY 14th Street Tree Farm (307 14th Street between Vermont and Rhode Island Streets) for the City of Buffalo; at 333 Dexter Terrace in Tonawanda; or Union & North Forest Roads (Forest Elementary School) in Williamsville.

All sites gather at 9AM - come dressed to plant, with gloves and equipment.

Some larger tree planting areas this Saturday, November 7th, are as follows:

WILLIAMSVILLE

Amherst Garden Club

Gather at 9am at intersection of North Forest & Union Road (In front of Forest Elementary).

I won't be at the sites above because Terry and I will be putting more trees in the midtown section of the city, but we could use helping hands too.

This program is so great for the city, if you have free time this is a great way to spend it!
