User Preferences

You can change the way the site works for you by changing the preferences in your preferences control panel. The preference control panel icon looks like a pair of red switches and is located in your control panel.

You can change the following preferences:

Bandwidth Mode - Low bandwidth mode is great for slow or mobile connections. In low bandwith mode, journal media is loaded as links to the media instead.

Enable Comments - This allows you to decide if you wish to receive comments on your journal or not. It is on by default. Only logged in site members are allowed to leave comments on the journals.

Enable Comments Notification - This allows you to decide if you wish to receive notifications via email, when comments are made on your journal.

Accept Messages - This allows you to accept post-it style messages from people reading your journal. If it is on, a post-it pad shows up under your user Pic. When a reader clicks on it, they can send you a message. If you have enabled cell-phone SMS forwarded, the message gets sent directly to your mobile phone as a text message SMS.

Accept Anonymous Messages - If this is enabled, non-logged guests can send you post-it messages. With this disabled, the post-it only shows up for guests of the site.

Autospelling - This allows firefox to autocorrect your typing as you type. For example, with it enabled, when you type the it automatically respells it as the.

Publish Box Default - This determines if the publish box is open or closed by default when you are logged in and visit your journal.

Start Up Sounds - This determines if you hear the start-up sounds and audio announcements on the site.

Inner Scroll Bar - This determines if the journals show up in a div with an inner scroll bar. It is convenient for small screens. You can toggle this on and off by clicking the green or red S at the top right of your journal area.

Large Print Edition - This preference determines if the default journal font is in large print mode.
