How do I contact another user? Can I leave comments?

Only logged in members can post comments directly to someone else's journal. We thought about this a lot and decided that a person's journal is their sacred space and should not be tampered with by the anonymous public.

If you feel strongly about what another person wrote, you can start your own journal put a link to their entry on your response using inlinks, or leave comments.

There are also several methods available to contact a user privately. You can send email to a user by clicking the blue mailbox icon under the userPic on their journal. If the user has opted to accept post-its, you can leave them a private message on the site by clicking the yellow post-it icon. (You might need to be signed-in depending on their preferences.) If you see a green cell phone icon in the send post-it form, the user has opted to have post-it messages forwarded to their cell phone as a text message.

We have also integrated the site with AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) and YIM (Yahoo Instant Messenger). Both services are free and avaialable for Macintosh and Windows. To use these features, you need to have an account with AIMlink or YIMlink and have the corresponding software installed on your computer.

To have your AIM/YIM online status display on your journal, simply log in and click on the AIM and YIM icons in your control panel. Enter your AIM/YIM userName on the forms and you are set to go.

Now when you are logged into AIM/YIM, other logged-in users will see your online status under your userPic and can contact you by clicking on the buttons that show up.

Remember, your online status is only visible to other logged-in members. Non-member visitors of the site will not see your online status.
