Multi-storey on Linwood/Summer corner

A nice "large" studio on the 5th Floor --> $550 (everything included) turned up on craigslist. Everything sounds perfect, except there is no picture (and no exact address). I checked on Google-Earth and there is a multistorey on Linwood near where it crosses Summer. I am assuming this is the place. I haven't got a reply back from the advertiser yet.

Since I am an out-of-towner, could I ask you all to rack your brains and jog your memories as to whether anyone has a recollection of any near and dear or far-away ones staying in this multi-storey - any Delta House experiences etc.?

I can't make it to Buffalo till the end of next week (after my comprehensive exams) and I feel that I should aggressively pursue this place, considering the snail-crawl pace my search is moving.

As usual, (and I apologize if I am becoming rather a pest) any suggestions/insights very much welcomed!!

@kookcity2000:
I need to move to Buffalo positively by June 16th (with whatever meagre amount of stuff I have). I then leave for a short vacation from 18th till 24th of June and come back to Buffalo on June 25th. I would be very interested in your place if it is less than a mile from Roswell and within my budget (<$600 including everything). Please let me know, if that sounds good.

The desirable rectangle?

jenks mentioned this rectangle in one of the comments and in one of my bouts of o.bsessive d.eadline e.scapism s.yndrome, I had fun spotting and shading the rectangle. :) The green arrow is Roswell. Nice way of getting to know the neighbourhood. m/

The Safety issue...

Hey everyone,

Since you are living or have lived in (and around) Elmwood/Allentown/Downtown, what do you think of safety of these areas:

Oak St & E. Huron St.
North Pearl @ Allen
Franklin @ Allen
Virginia St
Summer Street
Linwood Ave @ Barker
North Street
Elmwood @ Tracy, @ Bryant, @ Utica, @ Lexington @ Johnson Park
Jersey St @ Richmond, @ Porter
Prospect @ Georgia
Porter Ave @ Plymouth Ave
Richmond @ Bryant

I am looking to avoid projects, section-8 housing, crack houses, deaddiction centers, emergency shelters, loud bars/clubs and other not-so-great areas for a student who might be staying up late studying and might be keeping late hours at office.

Any advice/input/suggestions/tips are very much appreciated!

So my hunt for a flat

is going dismally. Am I asking for too much? I just want a simple 1BR/studio
-- within a mile from Roswell (so I can walk/bike)
-- within $600 inclusive of all utilities
-- with access to a laundry not more than a 10 minutes walk off
-- in a comparatively safe area where I am not likely to get shot in some crossfire or assauted or heckled or panhandled.
-- near bus/metro stops.

I am a non-smoker, non-party'er and don't have a pet or a car, and yet I am having so much trouble finding an apartment!

I scour craigslist and artvoice everyday and all I come up with is a few apartments within my price and distance range -- which are gone before I can contact the landlords.

I need some luck here and fast! I need to positively move to Buffalo on June 16th.

According to Darwin...

I should have been weeded out from this planet by now.

I heard people telling me all week how they ran for 3 miles that morning or worked up a sweat at the Gym or played squash every alternate day. I got inspired and went biking up a gentle slope and by the time I reached the "summit", not only was I panting like a dog, I was wishing I could get off and walk... and I did! I was just hoping that none of those super-athletes drove by seeing me straggle up a small slope they would have gracefully covered in the blink of an eye.

And what's up with those people I see running everyday for hours? I try running and within 30 seconds I feel I could go up in a massive explosion.

That brings me to another new Roswell Resolution (TM) I made.

RR1. I will bike more when I move to Roswell.

Scary

I find it a little more than distracting that the default pic actually looks like me right now.... especially the cowlick. Hmmm.. maybe not the bodyart.

Well.. all the more reason why I should stick to it. Heheheh...

Why is it...

that when you have a huge assignment hanging over your head (read: due tomorrow), you feel this utter need to get distracted and go rampaging all over the web for something that isn't due till the end of next month. I think it should be named the "O.bsessive D.eadline E.scapism S.yndrome" .

Moving to Allentown!!

Its final. I am moving to Roswell Park Cancer Center for my dissertation research and I am practically bouncing off walls. A few small road-bumps and creases need to be ironed out. Paperwork, Qualifiers, logistics etc. But aside from that, Buffalo, here I come!!

One of the earliest road-blocks is of course finding a 1BR apartment near Roswell. I am being told Allentown and Elmwood strip would be the ideal places to move into. Walking distance from Roswell and a relatively safe and happy neighbourhood.

Anyone have any suggestions/contacts that they can share with me? I am looking for a quiet place for about $400 - $550 per month (preferably with heat and water).
