Reliving my parents drama

Today was such a crazy day. I had Time Warner come to set up my new home business line so that I could run the server from here and save about $60/month.

Trying to make a little server room out of a bedroom closet made me confront all of the stuff inside there. That plus having to rewire a bunch of stuff and get the internet back up and running kind of sent me over the edge.

It so funny how much I am like my dad. I recognize that I get so crazy about stuff but sometimes I just can't stop. I hear myself saying the same jerky things he said that make my mother so nuts but at the same time as I get older I am starting to understand him perspective more. Either that or I am just beginning to be a grumpy old man.

It basically comes down to a difference in people who want to keep stuff and people who want to throw stuff out. My mother, my brother (horder king) and (e:matthew) are more of the mindset that you should always hold onto everything in case it has a value or purpose someday. If it can fit somewhere then it should. My borther has the quirk that he takes on other people's sentimental objects too while (e:matthew) likes to keep broken things just in case. I on the other hand like to hold onto some sentimental things like letters or pictures, possessions that remind me of someone, etc but draw the line at fabric scraps, broken things, books I will never read (in fact I have a couple that need to go), etc.

Its probably wasteful of me to be this way but I think it has to do with always feeling like I am wadding through garbage whenever I am looking for a specific item.

I think there is some relationship to hating to lose placement of where stuff is. Having more stuff means things get misplaced and are harder to find. Also, for some reason having a lot of stuff just gives me anxiety. I never want to have to go through removing tons of garbade from this place again liek we had to when we moved in. I think (e:matthew) and my bro/mom are the opposite when not having lots of stuff gives them anxiety.

The best for me was going away to school where I had to fit the few things I had in a few boxes. One thing I was really excited about in having a giant house was to have some giant open space. At one point I didn't even like furniture. Now I feel that slowly but surely everything is crowding in closer.

Dare to be mike

(e:mike) has been dare since the day he was introduced to it. This is the cutest pic. Just look at his poofy hair and how happy he is with his nonna. Its so hard to imagine him that little now.

Nonna's bandaid

Last night I somehow cut the top of my toe. It was one of those really painful cuts where the top layer of skin is sliced off but not enough to bleed so there is no scab.

So today I was dreading the walk to work because we were out of bandaids. Then I found this leftover box of bandaids from nonna's medicine cabinet with one little mini bandaid in it. It fit
perfectly, kind of like she left it for this occasion. Okay, that's cheesy but I smiled on the way to work thinking about it.

Picking up e:mike at the airport

(e:mike) and (e:libertad) safely made it home from Florida. I prefer a
midnight pickup to a 6am dropoff anyday. Let's see if I can drive
them home safely!

One hour later

We went to go see Bodies at the Luxor. (E:matthew) and I took Alex and
the baby Mickelson nephew.

Baby Finn was fine during the exhibit. Then we spent the next hour in
the car as he screamed. Having babies is hard. I never realized how
hard it was to move around with a stroller. We couldn't even make it
two blocks wirhout major obstacles.

(E:terry) took his other two nephews to adventure dome.

Dad's Birthday

Last thursday my mother and I started the day by trying to clean my grandmother's attic out. There was so much stuff that had to be divided in between piles of keepers, goodwill and garbage. We managed to sift through lots of stuff before it got to 90 degrees and we had to prepare for my Dad and Uncle's birthday party which started at 7PM.

Our floor guy finsihd the floor over there too. It looks a lot better than the crazy 50s rainbow fleck lineoleum that used to be there.

My grandmother had collected 3 boxes of bows. I wonder what kind of special event was just about to happen.

I didn't get any pictures of my Dad and Uncle's birthday accept this one at the new grill. I spent more of my time making sure that everything was working and that food was ready and dishes were clean. I think my mom or brother has more pics.

I am so freakin' happy

First of all my system at work is coming along great. Secondly, at lunch today (e:terry) finally expressed an interest in something career wise. He will be happy and we will be rich. He and (e:mike) are going to go to pharmacy school together. Considering they are the two of the smartest people I know, I am sure they will enjoy it and then there will be two doctors of pharmacy in the family - which means I should never die without an inhaler when there is a cat around.

Logins and Pictures

Today (e:hodown) sent me a link to some pictures of her mom. The studio that took them required thsi complicated login and then when I trie dto save one for (e:lilho) it wouldn't let me. They tried to make it so that you can download the image by putting some lame transparent gif over the top. I hate pretend secuirty. I am a big fan of no security rather than pretend security.

The real problem is that although they require a login to see your picture you can easy circumvent the entire system by just going to the images directly. What's really insane is that the image increment sequentially so if you really wanted all the images from the you could just quickly loop through and save them. Not just the images of mother ho but every image on they site.

Needless to say I managed to get (e:hodown) all the glamour shots of her and (e:lilho)'s mother.

You can start there and just keep incremeting the number in the url

Search engines are bound to grab them all.
