Total Recall at Dingens

I dragged (e:terry) out dancing at Dingens Bar and Grill out in cheektovegas on the border of lovejoy last night.

I never expected to find myself out there but it was pretty damn fun. There were two rooms. One with hardcore and one with dnb.

There was a real wooden dancefloor as the one room was a banquet hall used for weddings and such but I spent a lot of time dancing on carpet which was difficult but I think it provided a better workout.

The highlight of my year was when this girl came up to me to say she and her boyfriend thought I was the best dancer. Its weird but I think I have gotten much better in the last couple years despite hardly ever going anymore. Something just changed after seeing Andy c at wemf 2008.

It does seem there is some sort of dance music resurgence occurring. In a way, I can't help but feel like my friend's parents who would have 60s themed parties in the 80s but it is fun regardless.

I mean, I never thought I would dance to shooting star again, but it happend.

Pure Nightclub

Over the weekend I went to pure on Chippewa with a few buddies. The girl we were with got drugged. I guess the lesson is don't drink water from anyone. The hospital said it was PCP. Who does that?

I am so excited for tonight

Hope it fun and not too damn crowded. I kind of hate soundlab when
it's packed. I wonder why they would pick such a small venue.

Seilent Exchange Tommorow

I so excited to go dancing tomorrow during the day. Should be pretty fun, even if it rains. Does anyone remember dancing in the rain at the art gallery last year? I really like Mike Parker and he is playing. One of my favorite times seeing him was at the metal pit over near the ford plant in south buffalo/lakawanna.

Electronic Music + Art Day Festival August 29th Buffalo, NY

What is Silent Exchange?

Silent Exchange will be an all day open air electronic music + art event taking place on August 29, 2009 from noon-10pm with five DJ's that have tickled dance floors all over the world, with local performance artist and other artist work up and around in a one day installation. You will not be disappointed!.

Why Silent Exchange?

After living in NYC and Berlin for the past four and a half years, I returned to Buffalo, NY, only to find a commercial side of the electronic music scene. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

My plan - the Silent Exchange concept - is meant to focus on what is missing: the simplistic, low key, underground, and more accessible side of the music and art scene. Buffalo does do a great job in introducing people to the mainstream sound but Silent Exchange will open the door to a new experience - to an encounter with unconventional and unexplored surroundings where people can have direct access, and a unique connection with the music and art around them.

What Silent Exchange wants is for art to show its true face - inspiring, dirty, raw all simultaneously. Artists can freely manifest their sound in an artistic and unpretentious environment, where their techniques and interpretation aren't bound to any commerical expectations. International, as well as up and coming talents, will bring their edge and unfiltered sound to Silent Exchange, and artists will have the opportunity to display their work in one day exhibitions - with the perpetual message in mind: "actions speak louder than words."

It doesn't matter where we are all from, which backgrounds, interests, worlds we belong to - this is a connection between the people and music + art. Words are not needed for the exchange that takes place on a dancefloor. The smiles, the winks, the hugs, the kisses between strangers - all these create the vibe.

Where is Silent Exchange?

Silent Exchange Electronic Music + Art event will team up with Rock Harbor Commons Village "The Yard" for the debut. his space is in the backyard of the warehouse buildings. What they are beginning to build atRock Harbor is a new ecologically friendly and safe student environment that will incorporate a blending of art, history, nature, and social activies. The village will soon house 300 students in the first phase along with plans for a caf , student entrepreneurial offices, food court, fitness center, game/recreational room, big screen TVs, 24-hour security, Wi-Fi, monitored private parking, and eco-friendly shuttle buses. August 2010 marks the beginning of a remarkable future for Rock Harbor and the Black Rock community.

OMFG - DJ Andy C in Toronto 03/29/09

Destiny is throwing a party at Circa on March 29th. For once all the stars line up. A huge club, my favorite DJ - Andy C , a night I can go. I bought myself a ticket and one for (e:terry). I am so freakin excited. Also on the lineup Mystical Influence. I freaking can't wait it is going to be so awesome.

On these recordings you cannot hear the massive bass which is the most amazing part. You know those cars that hum with bass, this is like that x 10,000. The bass actualy shakes your body. Its such a great feeling.

Raving in the 90s

The day after going dancing at 1:30am at Faso's Greatful Bear and Grill in Lackawanna with (e:terry) the other night, I was reading some people's jourals on purerave.com that had attended the same event. The website is pretty neat. It basically has event listings and profiles and then people say if they are attending, did attend etc. Then it links the events to the profiles. The users have galleries and journals and can review/post events. The only thing I really don't like is the adverts all over the place but I gues sthat is normal on the internet heutzutage.

Anyhow someone wrote (hhc stands for happy hardcore, a music genre)"

old school hhc
is so good
like the originals
reminds me why i got into hardcore : )
eye opener, heart of gold, shooting star, now is the time, toytown, power of love
so good, wish i was around for those days
So theres gotta be ravers from like 90-95, that're like in their 30s (40s?) now?
thats nuts
Someone should track these people down and do a fucking documentary "where are they now style"
unless they are all brain dead, or junkies, then i don't want to see that movie

Well, that makes me feel old but I am happy to report I am not a junkie or brain dead and that I am 32 not 40 yet.

Dancing at Ohm again

After reading (e:djkgunz,46758) I went dancing at Ohm last night with (e:terry), (e:jim) and (e:james). It was so crowded as last week but I still had a good time. I decided I like their dance floor a lot when its not crowded. I also realzied I need to start wearing ear plugs if I want to be able to hear for a couple more years. I tried wearing my gym sneakers to see if they were comfortable to dance in. They seemed okay but I missed my regular shoes which made moving my legs trickier than usual because it felt unnatural.

The first dj, who I think is the guy who wrote on here the other day was fun to dance to as was the second dj. Then the third dj was playing trance, which I generally like, especially when it is live like Dharma Lab or all the Goa parties I would go to back in Germany but this guy played what always felt like built up and never really hit it for me.

Maybe we didn't stay long enough but at 1:30 we left for Cathode which was packed like I never saw it before. I think it has to do with winter. If you took all the people that usually sit on the patio and put them inside it would always be that crowded. The lack of patio in the winter just about halves the size of the bar.

Saw a lot of people I haven't seen in a long time including (e:chris)

This is an almond fantasy.
