The Visco 9"

Times have changed. The saleswoman didn't even bat an eyelash that three adult males were shopping for a king size mattress together. The other couple in the store were clearly lesbians and the same thing. I was thinking that maybe the mattress industry has always had the secret in side scoop into people lives and so nothing is new. It is kind of hard to pretend you aren't sleeping together when you are testing out a bed together.

image

We ended up going with some king size, visco memory form get up for ~$2000 with everything including tax, damn tax is expensive. It is called the Sealy Posturepedic TrueForm Visco 9"

I wish I had something to do with the Visco 9" in the title, but I don't - lol.

It seems like it has the potential to make sleeping nicer or worse. I really can't tell. Luckily, t gives us a 90 day return policy for trade in if we hate it. I think we will like it. They deliver it tomorrow and it better change my life considering it costs as much as a car I would have bought 5 years ago.

I don't understand how this can possibly be real but I saw it on omg blog and then decied it was worth posting here. freerice.com gives free rice to the United Nations feed the hungry campaign or something liek that if you win the word games on the site. I guess the advertisers donate grains of rice based on the number of correct vocabulry questions you answer.

image

I also foudn this video on omg blog - I guess it isn't just limited to that one beauty queen, it hit Kelly Pickler too

The Trip To The Botanical Gardens

I love the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens They are warm. I have decided to become a member so that I have a reason to keep returning to the warmth.

I took a bunch of pictures of the plants. I really love my Nokia s7c camera. It is so compact and takes such nice pictures.

Tis little pink flower was so hello kitty.
image

This orange puff was so cute.
image

Inside this large plants was this tiny microcosm with a mini flower in it.
image

This pine is so nervous looking.
image

So was this plant.
image

I kicked (e:flacidness)'s butt in checkers.
image

This cactus looked so mean.
image

This leaf is so giant
image

The banana plant was flowering.
image

image

These cacti look like penises.
image

The main chamber in the front room is so high and makes a giant echo chamber.

Buffalo State was having an exhibit today with student ceramics. This one was labeled Two Faced Bitch.

A Trip Downtown

I hate the new indian territory in the middle of the city. Does anyone else think that is ridiculous?
image

They made the Casino look so awesome, lol. I hate them. I would say I hope it burns down but considering it looks 100% ribbed steel I doubt anything would happen.

image

We went to go eat at the city grill on Franklin but it was closed for a private party ;(

On the way back to the car I noticed these doors to the YMCA were covered in a disgusting amount of pigeon shit. I guess they never use them.

image

image

This one is for (e:hodown). It is a spot focaccia.
image

Can anything be more buffalo than a corned beef foccia. They have them at spot. Sounds like it should be served at McGuidos over by HSBC arena. That place, however, closed down.

Reverse Osmosis Water

We finally bit the bullet and decided to install a reverse osmosis water system in our house for drinking water in the kitchen. It involved a couple hours of plumbing but the water tastes really good and it comes out way faster than the hook to the tap system we had before.

This is what happens to pipes that make me angry. I guess I do have an anger management issue. This led to us buying a new normal faucet as well. I like the new one way better than the old one anyways.
image

Here is the tank that goes under the sink.
image

Here is the filtration unit before
image
and after hookup
image

And the final happy tap with no faucets. $159 for the system, $100 for the new faucet, hour hours of plumbing later.

Put a what in your butt?

In order to find out what is going on with my intestinal pains they are going to give me a colonoscopy in January. Sounds scary but the idea is that it rules out anything horrible. Luckily I get knocked out for this.

::DOWNLOAD SOUND::

I also got a recommendation for a primary care physician, ya!

End of an Era in Kenmore

The reign of Mayor Beaumont over Kenmore, NY is over. In my limited experience with him as a youth I found him to be a great guy. Without him (e:iriesara) and I could have never had the 6th grade homeless sleepout at the Kenmore municiple building, for which we and our friends raised around $60 for the city mission.

Does this make you feel safe or scared

I got his email this morning. Am I really supposed to be afraid to walk home everyday. The last three are the worst. What about (e:tinypliny), how do you feel?

As we approach the holiday season, the following habits and practices can help to make our work environment safe and secure.

1. Avoid bringing large sums of cash or other valuables to work.
2. Try to keep items of value and wallets or purses with you or in a secure, locked location.
3. When leaving your office or work area unoccupied, lock the doors.
4. Keep track of keys. Be careful not to leave keys unattended and in view of anyone who passes by.
5. Contact the Safety and Security Department, ext. 3069, if you or a colleague sees a suspicious individual or anyone you do not recognize or does not have an identification badge.
6. Use caution when traveling outside.
7. Be aware of your surroundings and individuals in close proximity.
8. Use Roswell Park designated parking areas and the shuttle, whenever possible.
9. Use indoor routes through the campus when traveling alone.
10. Travel in groups.
11. Avoid walking outside alone, particularly on the perimeter of the campus, if at all possible. If that is not possible, then contact Security at ext. 3069 for an escort.

When we practice these common sense habits, we not only create a secure environment for ourselves, but also for our patients and their families.
